Edward kissed his brother on the cheek. It was a simple, brotherly kiss, and no one gave it a second thought. But ... a kiss is still a kiss and Ed knew the real reason he'd done it. He simply longed to be as close to his brother as possible. It was getting harder and harder to hide the fact that his intentions weren't pure and they weren't simply brotherly.

Part of him felt sick ... felt disgusted at his own feelings. The feelings he had towards his brother, his blood. It was wrong. It had to be wrong. Everyone said it was wrong. You can't love your brother, you can't lust for your own brother. His whole life, he had loved having Al beside him. Even through all the petty fights and silly arguements. He spent, and would have spent, and would have given everything and did give everything just to have his little brother with him again. Now he was here and Ed was ... tainting that love, that pure love and that relationship ... every SINGLE time he even looked at Al.

Just a simple touch from his brother, when Al gave him cute kisses on the cheek or hugs, the way he felt, the way he reacted ... it was just not a way he should be. Or ... at least. That's what he'd been taught.

But after everything he'd seen, after all he'd been through, after he'd seen so much ... he began to doubt all that had been instilled in him. All that society said was okay and all that society said was not.

Somewhere deep in him, the love he held for Al really wasn't dirty, or something that was gross. It was the love that you can only give one person, the love that you held higher than anything else. The love you'd do anything to have and lose everything to keep.

In his wildest dreams, he didn't imagine that one day, Al really would tell him exactly what he wanted to hear.

"Brother. I love you."

And mean it. Not in a family way, for once. But mean it. He loved Ed just as much as Ed loved him.

"... aren't you going to kiss me now?"

A kiss is still a kiss ... and Ed was going to make damn sure that this one counted.
