A/N: I wrote this for 60 Minute Fics a community on LiveJournal where each week you are given a prompt for which you are to sit and write for an hour. This is my first attempt at Buffy fanfiction in what could quite possibly be 4 years. Reviews/Concrit are welcomed, flames are ignored.

You buried her today. Final. The end. And there was no cliché gloomy weather; no gray skies or rain drops. There was sun and a breeze and godfartoomuch California air.

No talks of resurrection this time around. No whispered prayers from a priest as she's lowered into hallowed ground. It's just you and Willow and no one else because nobody else is left alive and how do you explain to a stranger why you're the one digging until the blisters burst?

The ground is rough here and you wish you could have laid her to rest proper but you can't when you're broke and broken and the only thing keeping you alive is the thought that it might all be over soon. Though you doubt it now, with her gone.

So you stand huddled with her best friend, black smudged from the earth on your fingers against her toopaletoothin skin as you stroke the hair from her eyes. And there are no tears now, as you stare at the mound of dirt that was your slayer. No apologies because they're of no use to her. Maybe later when the world has finally stopped and you yourself can rest.

For now all you have are your regrets and failings and you hope they're enough for you to survive on.
