Disclaimer: I do not own Knb
It was Valentine's day. The sun was shining down from the sky in golden rays, and birds were chirping cheerfully. Couples flooded the park, chattering happily, their whole beings radiating happiness. Duos sat on benches, their hands clasped tightly together as though they would never let each other go. Everything was perfect.
Almost.
A lone teen sat on top of a hill beneath a sakura tree. The blossoms were in full bloom and petals fell around him like small hearts. Rays of light escaped the overcast from the branches and fell like liquid gold around him, giving the boy an unearthly look. In his hands was a small, wrapped up box, the bow was pure white, complementing the redness of the heart-shaped object. It was obvious that he was going to give it to someone.
But he sat alone. An unusual thing for someone on Valentine's day. Even people without a lover would be out with their friends, not alone. Yet this boy simply sat there, his face blank and controlled. It was as though he was used to sitting on that exact same spot everyday, that he was used to waiting for something that would never come.
The boy's name was Kuroko Tetsuya. He is fifteen, and is currently in the middle school Serin. He wasn't tall, he was actually kind of petite, and his clothing wrapped around him lazily. Rumours were, that he was waiting for a special someone, a special someone who had left him, and would never come back. A special someone who had passed through the gates of heaven.
But that was impossible, right? People questioned. Why would he wait for something that would never come back? The question remained unanswered, until one day, the boy spoke. "Maybe that is the foolishness of love." His statement left some people confused, and some crying. Ah, they exclaimed, love is like a rose in full bloom, so beautiful yet painful to touch.
The boy merely shook his head, and smiled. "I will always wait for him," he said, "On this hill, on this day. Every single year I will wait, until he returns. For I believe in him."
And he stayed true to his words. Every single year on February the fourteenth, he would sit there, on the hill underneath a blooming sakura tree, with a delicately wrapped red velvet box in his hands. Waiting, and waiting, for the words, "I'm back."
And one day it was finally spoken, by a male with mesmerising heteromatic eyes and scarlet hair. He gently wrapped his arms around the other, whispering sweet nothing into his ears. And whatever it had been brought crystal tears to the teen's eyes. He had wrapped his arms around the other, and buried his head into his shoulder. A soft, melodic "Welcome back." was carried by the summer breeze that blew around them like a blessing from the heavens, spoken by Mother Nature herself.
And ever since then, on February the fourteenth, a couple sat on that hill, under the blooming sakura tree, hand in hand, their happiness overriding all others. Their name, it was said, were Kuroko Tetsuya, and Akashi Seijuro.
