They reached for the same album. That was how everything happened. Their hands touched for the first time when they both grabbed that vinyl album by The Velvet Underground at the same time. It happened in and old, vintage record store in Manhattan, which always smelled like dust, humidity and coffee. It was Logan's favorite place to go though. He could spend hours and hours looking at every single book and vinyl record in the store. He used to go there every time he was bored. It was Melanie's first time there.
Outside, was raining. The sound of the little drops falling against the floor of that New York City street contrasted perfectly with that song by The Cure that was playing in the background.
After a few, "I'm sorry", "It's okay, don't worry" and "Please, you take it" that came from their mouths along with some shy smiles, she finally agreed to keep it.
"Are you sure?" She said with a hesitating tone of voice. He smiled politely and said "Absolutely, you take it, you touched it first". He was trying to be a gentleman with this girl whose fingers had delicately touched his.
She looked at the album and then at him, and with a big smile on her lips and doing a gesture of gratefulness with her head, she said "Thank you".
He had realized hot pretty she was. She was a few inches shorter than him, and she had a long, wavy hair. Her hair had a unique color, in was like honey, and she had light highlights, although he could tell and they were natural. She didn't seem like the type of girl who dyes her hair. She had two melancholic green eyes, which looked like she could see through his soul. She was wearing a dark pair of jeans, a Beatles shirt, and navy blue coat.
"So you like The Velvet Underground?" She asked following her through the store. His voice was starting to reveal that he was nervous. He always got nervous when she talked to a girl she found appealing.
"Isn't it obvious?" She said taking every single record or book that she could find in her way, without really even checking it. She was nervous as well.
"Just a little bit" He said using his hands to illustrate the "little bit" and returning them quickly to his pockets after realizing how awkward he looked.
Her green eyes met his blue eyes for the first time. She grabbed the little bow necklace that she had since she was little and started to play nervously with her hair. She smiled at him and he smiled back. He had beautiful smile, a genuine one. He was attractive, but not in the conventional way. He wasn't overly tall, or full of muscles, but he had a kind smile, pretty eyes and a deep voice that made her melt a little bit every time he spoke.
