Summary: When there is nothing left, the Winchesters have each other. And maybe one other thing.
Worn, tired, ground down to nothing but still standing. Sam looked at him across the top of the car that wasn't the Impala, and yeah, that was never going to feel anything but wrong.
Dean ached, from the inside out. Cas had returned, atoned and was lost again – the Winchesters had no friends left.
Yet hope was the reason everything still hurt.
It was the one thing Dean couldn't let go of, even though so many times he'd thought there was nothing left.
But there it was, the tiniest, faintest of flames, nestled close to his heart where Sam lived.
