"It's sooooo hot," Happy groaned.
"Really? I don't think it is," Natsu said unfazed.
"That's because you're a fire dragon slayer. Heat doesn't affect you," Lucy pointed out as she fanned herself. They were walking through the forest on a hot summer day.
"If ya say so," Natsu replied as he strode ahead.
"Lucy?" Happy asked.
"Yeah?" She asked the flying cat.
"How much longer til we get there?"
"Not too much longer. I can see the buildings over the tops of the trees. We'll be there soon. And hey, at least Hargeon is on the coast. We can always go swimming to cool off," she suggested.
"Yeah," Happy weakly agreed. Lucy and Happy struggled to pick up the pace and reach Natsu who was nearing the edge of the forest. They finally caught up and stepped out into the direct sunlight in the town.
"It feels like it somehow got hotter," Lucy whined.
"Can we go to the beach now?" Happy asked.
"That's a great idea!" Natsu exclaimed. He grabbed Lucy's hand and ran off towards the coast line.
"Natsu, slow down," Lucy told him. He complied as they reached the coast.
"The water looks so nice," Happy commented as he landed next to them.
"Yeah!" Natsu said as he ran off to the waters edge. Happy and Lucy followed after him, dipping their feet into the cold water.
"I can't wait to swim in this," Lucy said as she walked in a bit further.
"Oooh, look!" Happy shouted as he pointed at something down the beach. Lucy and Natsu turned to look at where he was pointing. It was a small lemonade stand.
"Lucy, can we go get some lemonade?" Natsu asked.
"Why are you asking me?" She replied.
"Because we're broke at the moment," Happy explained. Lucy groaned but walked over and handed them money for lemonade.
"Thanks!" Natsu and Happy told her as they ran off to get lemonade. Lucy sighed.
When they returned, they only had two cups, which they were both drinking.
"You guys didn't get me one?" Lucy asked.
"Nope."
"You guys are such jerks. You could have at least gotten me one, too!" Lucy told them. She looked down the beach to see about getting her own, but the stand was already gone.
"Luce, I'll share mine with ya!" Natsu told her.
"Thanks, Natsu," she replied as she took a sip. Happy started giggling.
"What's so funny?" She asked the exceed.
"Indirect kiss," Happy giggled. Lucy groaned.
"What's that?" Natsu asked.
"Forget it," Lucy sighed as she walked towards the water.
"Luce, do you want the rest of it?" Natsu called out after her.
"No, you can have it," she responded.
"But you paid for it, it's only fair that we share it," he pouted.
"Natsu, you really are clueless," Lucy shook her head as she took the cup from him. She turned the cup so that she would be drinking from the opposite side of the cup before downing the rest of it. When life gives you lemonade... avoid the lemons.
