Manticore's Mistake
We are Manticore's mistake. They set out to create perfect soldiers. They designed us using the best DNA, human or non-human, it didn't matter to them. They gave us powerful bodies, faster and stronger than any known to man. They gave us sharp minds, intelligent, analytical, able to lead and able to plan. They gave us beautiful faces to disarm our friends and our foes. They withdrew compassion and understanding and replaced it with harshness and discipline to eliminate any traces of sentimentality in our characters. They tortured our bodies and tortured our minds and left unfeeling creatures devoid of emotion. They trained us and drilled us until we were as hard as nails, faster than a bullet, invincible to attack. They designed perfect soldiers. And left us, Zack, myself, Alec, every one of us, completely vulnerable to kindness and love.
