A.N. The events in this fan fiction may not be historically accurate but just suspend reality a little bit and you'll be fine. The characters in this story are based off my interpretation of the characters in the miniseries Band of Brothers and are in no way meant to offend the men who fought in World War II
Happy reading
The sound of whimpers filled Hailey's ears as she stitched up the leg of the child lying before her. The mother of the little boy stood in the corner of the hospital room sobbing as if her child was going to die. In reality the kid had gotten a small gash on his leg from taking a fall down the stairs of his home, the worst thing that would happen to him was he would be left with a small scar just below his knee.
"Ma'am, your son will be just fine." Hailey said as she finished patching up his leg. "Excuse me I've got some other things that need attending to." She left the distraught mother to her perfectly healthy child and strode down the hospital hallway.
She had worked at the hospital ever since she graduated seven years ago, she practically ran the place and she still couldn't get used to the unnecessary tears that overly concerned mothers always shed.
The 'other things' she had mentioned to the mother was just an excuse to get out of the hospital. It had been a long day and Hailey felt she deserved a drink.
An hour later Hailey Richards wandered into her favorite pub. Her light blonde hair was curled slightly and fell just below her shoulders. She had painted her lips a deep red and had a dark green dress hanging from her small frame.
Hailey approached the bar with confidence and said politely "Scotch. Neat." The man behind the bar smiled and returned a moment later with her drink. "I'll just have one." she thought to herself, remembering she had to work early the next day. Her hazel eyes scanned the pub. There were hardly any other women in the joint, save for herself and a slightly older woman across the bar. To her right was a group of rowdy young men who were talking so loud it was hard not to eavesdrop.
"I swear this broad had the voice of an angel, you shoulda been there, Don." One of the men in the circle exclaimed.
"Aww c'mon Dave, there's no need to rub it in, I was busy last night, alright?" A red head replied
Hailey smirked at the conversation and finished her drink, as she was about to leave a man burst through the door almost knocking her over in his hurry to get to the noisy group of alpha males.
"Have you heard? It's all over the place!" the man yelled, his face pale.
"Jeez Lou, calm down. What's going on?" the red haired man asked.
"They just made it official, we're at war." The entire pub went silent. No one moved for what seemed like forever. Finally Hailey stumble back to the bar in an awestruck stupor. She needed another drink.
Sorry the prologue is a little slow but it'll pick up soon reviews are appreciated.
