A/N: If you want to have the full effect of the story, go youtube the song "Cry - A Sad Story that Make You Cry" by youtuber "MichaelsPianoSongs".
She stares out the window, reminiscing the old days; the old, happy days. Still fairly confused as to how or why it happened, she frowns while letting a heavy sigh out under her breath. She slowly turns and looks around. The room once filled with warm, joyful laughter shared by only two people is now merely a mundane, lifeless space. There are no lights on since the electricity was cut off due to the amount of unpaid bills. The only light source is the morning sun that is now hanging high up in the soaring sky, proudly shining its bright sunrays through the window, into the room.
At least something's giving this place some life…
The sadness in She looks toward where the white grand piano once used to be. Her blue eyes now dwell in dark shades of grey, drowning anyone in deep despair. All that can be seen are the 4 patches of lighter brown formed by the piano's legs after being placed there for so many years. The paintings on the wall; her masterpieces; are now all covered in dust from the absence of cleaning and poor maintenance.
"Michi"
She gasps. It is that voice; that one voice that she will never be able to forget for the rest of her life. Hearing that soft, gentle voice stirs up familiar emotions that were long gone within her. She tightens her jaw and purses her lips, trying hard not to let the tears slide down her cheeks. She looks around the room anxiously, creasing her eyebrows.
"Ruka?"
She chokes on her tears when she sees someone's foot stepping out from the shadows. There she is, the sandy blonde haired girl whom she misses so dearly. She stands right in front of her, in her usual motorsport outfit with a cheeky grin on her face and oil smudges all over.
"Have you seen my towel?"
Time seems to have stopped. All she sees is her ex lover flipping her hair, trying to get her long fringe to the side as she walks into the room.
"Ruka…"
She stuns. All of this seems so surreal. She reaches out her hand in attempt to touch the other's face once again.
"I was just repairing my car and one of the…."
She vanishes into thin air.
The atmosphere in the room becomes dead again with her gone. This time, she lets her tears flow down freely; she couldn't hold it in any longer, it hurts too much. Her knees go weak and they hit the ground, with the handwritten letter tightly clutched in her hand. Teardrops fall onto the letter, smudging some of the words.
Michiru, my love,
When you received this letter I would have already lost the battle to my tumour.
The times we spent together is much more than what I could have asked for in my whole life… I am really grateful to have had you by my side…
I'm sorry, the reason I didn't tell you about my sickness is because I don't want you to worry about me, at least not more than you already do.
I know you would try everything to cure me instead of ignoring it and just spend the rest of our days being together… All I wanted to do with the last few months I had was to spend them happily with you, and I did.
I know you will find someone much better than me; someone who will love you as much as I do; someone who can protect you even when you claim that you're strong enough; someone who can take care of you while I'm gone.
I will forever be with you in your heart, always loving you from above.
Yours only,
Haruka
