Disclaimer: I don't own and never will. Doesn't stop me wishing though…

AN: Ok, this was inspired by a review I left on Lexvan's story, Unexpected Things.

It was just a case of lust. That's what he told himself. She was a pretty girl; no she had long since grown past the stage of girl he corrected himself. She was a beautiful young woman who was spending a lot of time in his company. She was beautiful and he was attracted to her purely on a physical level, a desire to take her in that way. That's all there was to it.

(Just ignore the fact that no other girl sparks the same reaction. Even the stunning Earth Guardian, one who turns heads wherever she goes doesn't make you feel THIS)

It's just a result of being locked up for so long. He's been trapped in this prison for so long that her company caused this reaction. She visits him, talks to him and even jokes with him, but when your only company is other prisoners, she is a welcome sight. That's why she sparked this reaction.

(Just ignore the fact that Miranda is with you for far more time and is herself an attractive woman. Never mind that some of the female guards are distinctly attractive. Never mind that virtually no woman made you feel this way when you were free.)

It's a meeting of minds. She's clever, charming and makes him think. She is genuinely interested in his motivations and his well-being, something no other woman has done since he went to prison. Her arguments are solid and she doesn't accept no for an answer. But it's nothing more than that, it really isn't.

(Just ignore the fact that the reason you keep debating with her is that you want her to stay.)

It's a curiosity, a desire to know what a Guardian would feel like. He likes the idea of kissing and touching and bedding a Guardian and a girl from Earth, nothing more. It's just a curious desire interfering with his mind. That's all there is to it. If she was in his cell, he'd take her by force and enjoy her cries as he did.

(Just ignore the fact that he considers such actions to be beneath him. Just ignore the fact that none of the other Guardians enter his thoughts like this. Just ignore the fact that he could not bring himself to hurt her in any way.)

It's the clothes she wears. They're too revealing and they expose far too much flesh. That's why she has this effect on him. They're just so slutty and inviting, it's practically inviting his thoughts to wonder in that direction.

(Just ignore the fact that the Guardian costumes sometimes expose a lot more. Just ignore that some of the other Guardians wear similar clothing and yet they don't cause this reaction.)

It's because…

It's because…

It's because…

It's because he can't keep denying the simple facts to himself. His mind he can lie to, his feelings he can't. And, much to his frustration and annoyance, he, Prince Phobos, has fallen in love with someone he shouldn't. Someone who he is sure would reject him in an instant. Someone who is forever beyond his grasp.

"Hello Phobos," the voice of the girl breaks through his reverie and he smiles. She is here and he wants nothing more than to bask in her beauty, her intelligence, just bathe in everything about her.

"Hello Taranee," Phobos said and with a smile he sat down. "Now what shall we discuss today?"

And as Taranee began talking to him, Phobos stared and wished he hadn't fallen in love with the beautiful, the clever, the amazing and rather crucially, the unobtainable Taranee Cook.
