This cake should be to Young Master's liking… I specially picked the finest ingredients to make for a cake suitable for a Phantomhive. A smooth, rich chocolate cake, topped with a fine vanilla icing, decorated in his favorite color scheme. What else could a Young Master—
Sebastian's thought was cut off by the bell from the study ringing. Ciel's demanding tone could be heard through the bell itself as it swung back and forth, ringing loudly and disturbing the silence that had been a comfort to Sebastian for so long.
want… Sebastian sighed and carried the small cake on an immaculate tray up to the young Earl's study.
"Sebastian." Ciel's voice sliced through the room, leaving a trail of expectance in its wake.
"I have brought you a 'Devil's Food Cake'. It has a smooth and creamy chocolate flavor, complemented with citrus and vanilla in the garnish." Sebastian replied, slowly placing the baseball-sized cake on his master's desk.
"Do you remember the first three orders I ever gave you?" Ciel asked, eliciting a raised eyebrow from his butler.
"Of course. You asked that I never betray you, that I follow your orders unconditionally, and that I never lie. If I may be so bold as to enquire, why do you ask?" the butler replied.
"Because I have another order for you, in similar accordance with those three." Ciel replied, gently pushing down at the cake with the side of his fork, scooping a bite into his mouth.
Sebastian waited until his master had finished chewing before responding.
"Yes?"
"Do not withhold information that I need to know for any reason. Ever." The boy demanded.
"Of course, my lord." Sebastian bowed, his right hand over his heart.
Ciel scoffed. "Not that I wish for otherwise, but why are you always so… compliant?"
"I am afraid that the answer to that question is not necessary knowledge. Hence, I have no obligation to share that. But of course, you already know. I am simply one hell of a butler." The butler's consistent voice replied.
"~Not necessary knowledge~? Enlighten me, Sebastian. What is 'necessary knowledge', then?" the Earl retorted, smirking.
"Well, there are a few things. One: tomorrow, you have an appointment with Mr. Hughes, the man who manages the Funtom store in Central London. Two: Lady Elizabeth is to visit you tomorrow. And three—
"Sebastian. I do not find that necessary until tomorrow." The boy interrupted.
Sebastian brushed off the interruption before walking slowly towards his master.
"Is that so? My apologies." The butler grew closer to the desk, and for a moment, Ciel actually thought his heart had skipped a beat. But then, Sebastian simply picked up the plate, and set it on the tray that was resting on the entrance table.
Soon, though, Sebastian was within arms' reach of Ciel once again.
"And three…" he began, leaning closer to the young boy. Ciel shivered as he watched Sebastian's head move to the side of his, so that his mouth was directly parallel to Ciel's ear.
"Sebastian?" Ciel's voice wavered as he tried to make sense of his butler's actions.
Sebastian moved his head back, so he was almost nose-to-nose with his master.
"I love you." Were the last three words spoken before Sebastian closed the gap between them, and Ciel felt his butler's soft lips on his and comforting arms securely around him.
Ciel closed his eyes, mirroring Sebastian.
And now…, he thought, it makes no sense, but I am completely content.
Ciel pulled back, opening his eyes slowly to say "I love you too." Before tucking his head into the crook of his butler's warm, soothing, loving neck.
