Devastation.

Regret.

Sorrow.

Anger.

Lost.

Lost because nothing was what he thought.

Anger because he knew that nothing he could say or explain could make a difference.

Sorrow at what he could not prevent.

Regret at not noticing what was going on.

Devastation at knowing that nothing would ever be the same.

When things started to happen and pieces were put into place, he never would have believed it. But then his greatest fear and concern was confirmed. Shattering his entire world.

The one person. Being. That he thought he could rely on betrayed them all.

He tried. He tried to explain. To try and voice his concern in a way that would be understood. He tried. But his pleas fell upon deaf ears. He knew at that moment he should have begged, but it was too late.

Now as he stood watching as the one person he thought he could count on stood with a slight smirk on his face as he stared at the two figures before them, for the first time in his life he was scared. Scared for himself.

Scared for his family.

Scared for his friend.

As he stood frozen his eyes locked on his friend as he spoke. He knew right then that they would have to be careful. They would have to be vigilant.

As his heart pounded against his chest he knew.

He knew that whatever was happening, whatever had happened this was his friend. The one who had saved him. And now he hoped he could do the same.

And if he couldn't...

He knew.

And deep down, all along, so did his friend.
