I don't own Hellsing….but I wish I did

Nor do I own Viva La Vida…but I do like the song.

Long Live the Fallen King

By Onyx Wolf

Seras sat at the small table in her room listening to Coldplay's newest album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. As the title track Viva la Vida began to play Seras begin to compare to the person in to song to her master, Alucard.

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

When Vlad III Dracula ruled as the prince of Wallachia, seas of soldier would rise to follow him into battle, but now as the song implied he merely cleaned rogue vampires from the same streets that he had owned before he met Van Hellsing.

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

Seras laughed, he still enjoys seeing and feeling the fear in his enemy's eyes, for Alucard that feeling was better then the sweetest red wine or the warmest blood. The crowds of Transylvania glorified him as the great war hero Vlad Ţepeş.

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

He ruled for long more than a mere minute but in the end he fell because of himself, the fragile pillars that he himself had built fell because of he refused to stop hunting Mina Harker, because he refused to give up anything to one he believed was mortal and thus beneath him.

For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world

Mina allowed Hellsing to use her to bring Alucard to his knees, and since then he has been a slave, a glorified trump card killing the enemies of Hellsing, his own kind.

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

For the people of Transylvania, their hero had become a villain, a wicked aura followed him, he could and would take what he wanted. It was a travesty for them.

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

Now only fellow vampires wait for his head. Hellsing had turned him into a puppet. Not even Seras wanted to be in his boots.

For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

Seras and Alucard both knew that should he die a final true death, it would not be heaven's gates that he saw. It would not have been heaven even if he had seen true death when he was mortal.

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field

The only bells he hears now are in Sir Integra's voice, there is no singing, and he is the sword and the shield of Hellsing. He was Vlad III Dracula Prince of Wallacia, now he is Alucard, the trump card of Hellsing and the master of Seras Victoria.
