"I'd write you back," Jared said to Laurie.
Laurie smiled. And then she did something unexpected by any of them. Even herself it seemed.
She leaned forward and gave Jared a quick, shy kiss.
The reactions of those around them were predictable to say the least. Mallory smirked and let out a low wolf-whistle while Simon and Nick had identical looks of stunned surprise on their faces.
Laurie and Jared pointedly looked away from one another, their faces red with embarrassment.
"Oh I think we know a couple of people who would like to see each another sooner," Mallory said with a smirk and both Jared and Laurie glared at her, but before they could say anything Sandspur leapt onto Laurie's lap providing a convenient distraction.
