Ginny Weasley went to the market every week for her family. And no matter how much she lingered longingly on the other items the vendors were selling, she was told quite clearly to only buy carrots with the provided money.
But, when she reached the stall where she could always find cheap carrots, something was... off. The red-head pushed nimbly through the small crowd of customers to the front.
"You... You raised the prices?" How the heck was Ginny supposed to buy carrots now? She desperately shuffled through the few bills she had been given that morning, but the money needed to buy the carrots still had yet to Apparate into her hand.
The vendor nodded his head slowly. "I'm sorry, miss, but profit was running low. I had to raise prices to save the stall—"
"This is an outrage!" Ginny's face was almost as orange as her hair and the carrots she needed. "Please, give me a bargain, kind sir! This is too expensive!"
"No can do, miss. Sorry, but it's take it or leave it—"
Suddenly, a dark-haired, green-eyed stranger intersected their conversation. "I'll pay for you," he said, sliding a pile of dollars towards the vendor. "My name's Harry, by the way."
"Ginny. But you can't-"
"No buts. I've already done it."
All Ginny could do was squeak out an embarrassed "Thank you so much!" as she grabbed the carrots and ran back down the street. Her face was now definitely like the carrots in her hands.
She still remembered those kind, green eyes. She always would.
