You and Me
Lyrics by Lifehouse

What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

Jack sighed tiredly and rested, his back to a tree. He shut his eyes restlessly and sighed. He opened them once again and glimpsed at Kate, between a group of leaves and branches. A smile automatically found its way onto Jack's face. He looked down, still smiling, and chuckled.

"Who's there?" Kate said, suddenly alert. She looked around, and saw Jack, sheepishly coming out from behind a couple of trees. Kate rolled her eyes and smiled.

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

"Was it you who was following me all this time?" Kate asked, raising an eyebrow teasingly.

"How'd ya know?" Jack said, laughing.

"Hm, lucky guess," Kate muttered sarcastically. "Puh-leese, Jack, if I weren't the one you were following, we would be going in circles."

"Oh, so, you would follow me if I were to go out here?" Jack tilted his head and grinned.

"Well, I- No. I...?" Kate said. She shrugged, winking. "Well, who knows what I would do?"

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

Jack sat down on a rock, trying to catch his breath. "You tired?" Kate asked, cocking an eyebrow. She laugh aloud. "How are you tired?"

"Well, I'm not used to walking extremely fast," Jack said, scoffing. He shut his eyes and peacefully leaned against the tree that was behind him. Kate smiled, gazing at him. As if knowing, Jack popped open an eye and smiled. Kate looked away, and rolled her eyes.

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

"You know," Jack said, standing up, "I have something to show you."

"Oh, and what's that?" Kate questioned, smiling.

"Only one way to find out, isn't there?" Jack said, walking past Kate with a teasing smile. Kate rolled her eyes once more and followed him curiously.

"C'mon, Jack, tell me where we're going. Please?" Kate pleaded, running up to Jack's side.

"We're almost there," Jack said. "Promise."

Kate stopped prompting Jack. She knew that if he made a promise, he meant it.

There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right

Kate looked at the ground and gasped. The garden had grown immensely. Crouching down, Kate looked at the flowers, plants, and fruits.

"You did this?" she asked, her mouth open in surprise. Jack nodding, sitting down next to her.

"I told Sun to keep you away from this place for awhile, if you haven't realized it, and I fixed some things and added new ones," Jack explained. He smiled, proud of what he had done.

"But...where'd-?" Kate began.

"Where'd I get these things?" Jack finished for her. Kate nodded. Jack winked and laughed. "That's my secret."

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you
Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

"This is amazing," Kate said, looking down. "Thanks for doing this for everyone...I mean, this means more food and-"

"No problem," Jack said, shaking his head. "This is my treat, specifically for you."

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
