***Disclaimer: I don't own Gambit OR Rogue, okay? Please don't sue me Marvel, I'm a good little fan.
Iris
"And I'd give up forever to touch you, cuz I know that you feel me somehow. You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be and
I don't want to miss you right now..."
- Iris, the Goo Goo Dolls
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She sat alone, as she often did, drinking in the cool summer breeze as she sat on the dock near the boathouse of the Xavier Institute
for Higher Learning. Her beautiful auburn hair, with its curious white streak, blew around her shoulders. She was reading, getting lost in a world
where there was no such thing as a mutant. Something so far from her own world. It was comforting.
"Rogue." A hand on her shoulder. A gloved hand, she thought bitterly. The only kind of touch I can ever have.
"Yes?" She looked up, her dazzling green eyes looking straight into those of the one person she loved more than anything else. The
sparkle in those eyes threw him off balance for a moment, like it always did, but only for a moment. Then he sat down and took her hand in his.
"Not'ing really. Jes wanted to sit here wid you."
And at that moment, she knew that there was something better than what she had always longed for. Something she already had.
She realized that the best kind of words were those left unspoken. That the best kind of touch was the kind you couldn't see, or feel. And that
the purest and best kind of love was based on the fact that two hearts can overcome the greatest obstacles only to become stronger than before.
***The End***

This was my first fic, so be kind! Please review because I need to know if I should keep on writing or give it up and become a doctor like my
mom always wanted me to...
