'Good Enough'

In the midst of battling in the pouring rain I hear our miraculous' beeps. I turn to Chat and with a silent nod we head off to separate sides of an alleyway.

It's dark and my civilian clothes are soaked through. I keep watch as Tiki devours several cookies.

Just after I finally transform back someone comes running for me. His blond hair and white button up shirt stick to his skin.

"Adrien?!" I hollar in panic.

I thought Chat helped all of the civilians escape!

"Ladybug! Look out!" He screams as he tackles me to the ground.

The akuma, a sharpshooter, comes bounding after him, taking his aim before I can even react. My heart skips a beat when I hear the shot ring out followed by an agonizing scream.

But it's not my scream. I don't feel the pain. I can only watch Adrien's face contorted in agony as the bullet pierces his leg.

"ADRIEN!" Time seems to slow as anger takes over my mind. I rush Adrien to a secure area before defeating the akuma once and for all. When I make it back to Adrien he wears a bright smile, now fully healed.

When I finally land on the balcony I'm furious.

"Why?! Why did you risk your life for me?!"

Adrien's face shifts to confusion and hurt.

"I trust you with my life. I knew you would do the right thing." He explains.

"And what if one day I fail? What if one day I'm not good enough?"

"But you are good enough, I've seen it myself, You're selfless, compassionate, and kind-"

"Stop, I'm not as perfect a you think I am!" I shout. "How could you be so reckless? I have a protective suit, you don't. What if you had died tonight?!" I counter. Hot tears stream down my cheeks as the rain continues to pour down on us.

"How could I not? You're Ladybug. Paris needs you. There's nobody out there who would care if I was gone." He huffs.

I rest my hands on Adrien's shoulders.

"What about me? I would most certainly care if you disappeared and that's not because you're famous."

Adrien stares at me in the midst of his shock and confusion.

"Why? I'm just my father's puppet, he won't even let me make a single decision for myself. Why would you care if I'm gone?" He questions just as my miraculous beeps for the final time.

I bite my lip, knowing I'm running out of time.

"Because I love you. I always have." I mumble.

Just as I'm about to take off, Adrien takes my hand.

"Can I see you again?"

I nod as I take off into the night.
