"Come on baby, it's only a few drinks with our friends." Gerry called up to Sandra.
"Friends we happen not to have seen since our wedding and even then we didn't get to catch up properly. We haven't seen them properly since the end of UCOS."
"Yeah I know but life happened and we all drifted apart."
"That's not the point, they're still our good friends." Sandra pointed out as she walked down the stairs of her and Gerry's massive home. She hadn't expected to do so well out of policing but yet here she was earning a fortune from her own business.
She'd planned to stay in policing even after the decision to close UCOS but the victim of the last case offered her a new career path and offered an investment to set up a UCOS styled thing but privately, she jumped at the chance. A chance that now was a business with 12 employees and a £500,000 profit each year.
Her and Gerry had been together just under a year when UCOS ended and despite that the relationship got stronger until Gerry popped the question and a year later they were married. Now 9 years down the line they were still just as happy
Gerry had gone into security after UCOS, with all the money Sandra was bringing in he hadn't needed to work but he'd experienced the boredom of retirement and had had no desire to go back to it.
"Brian will you come in please and clean yourself up?" Esther called out to Brian who was in the garden. "And have a shower you stink and you're covered in mud!"
"Yeah, the peas are nearly ready Esther. It'll be the first time they've grown successfully." Brian told her happily.
"Yes great, I'm taking Dougal for a walk and you better be getting dressed by the time we get back." Dougal was a friend's dog but his owner had gotten ill and Scampi had died so Brian and Esther had taken on the then 3 year old Scottie dog. After UCOS Brian had gone back to life how it had been before but a happier one. Being in UCOS had given Brian the thing he'd needed to prove his innocence where Anthony Kaye was concerned.
"Baby, do we really have to go out? I'd rather stay here in bed." Callie called as Steve shaved the little stubble he had on his chin.
"Yeah we do, they're my friends and without them I wouldn't even be in London let alone have met you."
"Yeah but I swear you said you weren't there long." Callie complained.
"I wasn't compared to the rest of them but I was there a good year."
"And you last saw them when?!
"9 years ago at Sandra and Gerry's wedding, we text though, we all drifted apart as our lives all went different ways but we're seeing each other again now which is what matters."
"Fine. Do I have to come?" Callie asked.
"Well no but I'd love it if you did so I could introduce you to them."
"Let me get dressed then."
Callie had been on the scene for just over a year but was in fact Steve's longest relationship since Charlie. Callie was 31 and a secretary at a local office but had very few brain cells. Steve had retired and spent his days out and about and not doing a lot.
Life had certainly moved on since UCOS but even with the distance between them they were good friends who were all excited about the reunion.
