He holds me fast, his hand on my waist, keeping me fast where I am, pressed against him. His head is bowed, the crook of his neck bent so that I can bury my face in it. Even as this happiness spreads through me, I keep sobbing onto his shoulder, drops down his neck, He shushes me, holding me close, and I take him in.

"Annie, Annie, It's okay, I've got you." He's whispering, his breath warm and soft onto my temple.

I smile and try to relax into his gaze, his brown eyes dark and overshadowed in the dim light above. District Four only has a few good corners where I can see him, and now I have to take him in, before he goes off to the arena, and we have to separate, or die.

I breathe deeply, trying to keep the tears away, but they flow. He lifts me up, like a child and I place my head on his shoulder.

"F-Finnick… Why?" My voice shakes, and I make him put me down. I crawl away from him into the dark, and he puts a finger to his lips as I sob, my shoulders touching the ground.

He lies next to me, his arm on my stomach, my hand on his face. All I can see is his face, shadowed still, but in it's magnificent glory. Strong curves surround us, but I start to see the waves magnifying and heading towards us. A new round of tears fall and I weep until I see that he is still there, and the waves are gone.

He smiles sadly, his eyes filling as well. I turn and face the ceiling; watching the screen that has appeared. The announcer calls my name, and Finnick's. I close my eyes, and watch the same thing on my eyelids.

"Finnick! I can't see you!" I watch the vision over and over.

"Shh… Open your eyes, Annie."

I do, and he's there, but he's blotted. He's of a different world. I grab his hand, and he lifts me up, until I'm in his arms.

He tilts my head so that our eyes connect, then leans in.

Our lips touch, a kiss that reconnects us, and the blotting disappears for a moment. I keep my eyes open to block the visions, so that I may see him, really see him.

I see the clever outlines of his cheekbones, of his jaw. His eyes are closed, his mouth on mine, keeping us together. Safety hovers before us, a wire that springs us together. I tug on it, and he opens his eyes.

I kiss his neck, and, his hand on my waist, we walk back towards the light of District Four.
