Too Much Of A Burden

Derek had lost his first patient. However, to remember that this was his and Angie's only son was another letdown. He ripped off his headset in the on-call room and threw it to the ground. He began to pour out floods of tears.

"Angie… I was never meant to be a doctor… I was supposed to be someone else, I was supposed… to come out with Otacon, not Meryl."

"Derek, you can't blame yourself for the fact that you didn't know how to treat it. He was already too far gone when we arrived," said Angie, trying to comfort him.

"We never even named him… it shouldn't be like this. We even wanted to have him. So, why?"

"I… don't know. I just don't know."

"I don't get it. We just opened him up, and his organs shut down. We couldn't save him."

Angie clutched her heart.

"I think I know… where it came from… The disease stayed dormant until I gave birth… it went through my blood into his body… and I only knew until recently…"

"Angie!"

Derek never managed to save her. The next day, Tyler spotted that Derek's desk was empty. The receptionist said Derek never entered. Tyler ran out and after a few minutes of looking, he found a crowd gathering around the entrance of Hope Hospital. The focal point of the crowd was at the top of the building, where a man stood over the edge.

Tyler ran up the stairs of the hospital until he found the rooftop. Derek was standing there, facing the edge, standing on the top of the wall that separated him from the abyss below.

"Derek… you-"

"I stop it where it started…"

The best doctor Angeles Bay ever knew threw himself over the edge.

Whoa, I LOVE this cliff-hanger (no pun intended). But if you want to talk about it that way, the man will be suspended over the edge until time itself ends. Which basically means this is where it ends. I am listening to the Game Over (Too Much Of A Burden) theme of TCSO over and over again while writing this.

Get this; I have TCSO, but no Wii!
