This drabble just came when I went to start typing. Not sure who it's about. Maybe just a random SeeD, or member of the Galbadian military, or some military somewhere, who got left behind by his or her teammates during the fighting. Kind of depressing. Anyway. The poem fragment at the beginning is not mine. Neither is Final Fantasy VIII, or whichever Final Fantasy or whatever you see this as coming from. Title's from the song Pipin sings in "Return of the King." To my knowledge, anyway.
Until the Stars are all Alight
"And all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't…" Well, it didn't matter anymore. It was over. They were done. And there was nothing to be done about being done. But it was too early for death, even if hope was gone. So keep fighting. Fight something. There must be something. Keep their dreams alive. Fight for that. Even though they were long gone. Must keep on walking. She wanted to be the best. He wanted to open a restaurant. Find a way. He wanted peace. She wanted to leave no regrets behind. There must be a way. He wanted to be the best dad he could be. He wanted to meet his nephew. Do everything possible. And so it falls to the last, to see their desires came to pass, as best as can be done. It always falls to the last. Because then, there is no one else left. When even the legends have passed on.
