A/N: I've edited quite a bit, I think. it's much better now, hopefully you all like it as much or more! Read and review!
Bulma had been home for quite some time now, taking care of the baby boy she had by mistake with a ruthless man. Although, to her, she sees something different in him, a change. Although, all her friends tell her she's crazy for believing such a thing, he's just so obsessed with fighting and Goku, but he's not evil, not anymore. She held the baby in her arms in a rocking chair, he was 6 months old and his father had been gone since Bulma started getting close to giving birth. He missed the birth of his child and missed the precious age of that one month year old baby. She couldn't say she wasn't peeved about that and she was going to let him have it when she saw him again. He was going to come back, she knew that for sure, he still had to fight the androids and prove himself to Goku. Yamcha, her ex boyfriend came into the house cracking his neck and stretching out his arms in front of him from his long day of training, he took a seat on the couch and turned on the TV, "Hey Bulma, how are you doing?" He wondered, acting as chill as he could, although, the baby still rubbed him the wrong way. Knowing that it was an offspring of Vegeta just freaked him out, he saw the child as some demon spawn. "How's it going Trunks?" He greeted the child too however just to prove how chill he was about the whole situation. Bulma couldn't help but laugh a bit at how Yamcha seemed to talk to him as if he were an adult already, plus she could see right through his act and it just made her laugh.
"We're doing fine, Yamcha.. thanks" She told him, looking to her baby and tickling his chubby baby belly gently before looking out the window in longing to see the father of the child again, "By the way, did you see any sign of Vegeta coming back…?" She wondered, with a furrowed brow worried look, "He's gonna run out of fuel soon.." She seemed to be worried as she eyed the sky, or what she could see of it.
Yamcha sighed in annoyance and crossed his arms, not even intrigued and having fun with his favorite TV show, he spat out, "That jerk." he eyed the floor, "Isn't he in space doing his big fancy training on 500 times gravity or whatever? I swear he's gonna end up pulling something and killing himself." he looked to Bulma and saw her get sad that Yamcha actually thought that, he tried to take it back the best he could, but he couldn't take it back completely as he believed it was the honest truth, "Bulma, there's no reason you should be wasting your time on him, he missed the birth of his son and hasn't come down to visit at all. He doesn't care, he's a monster Bulma. He's not gonna chan-"
"THAT'S ENOUGH YAMCHA!" She shouted, standing up with her child in her arms, glaring down at her old boyfriend, the baby just giggled at the wrong time as if it were a joke, "I can't help loving him! And I'm positive he loves me too, even if he doesn't say it! And he certainly loves his only son!" She spat at him before storming out of the room and going to the extra living room where Trunks' jumper was, she put the child down and let him giggle and play with the bobbled things on display for him. Trunks jumped around, higher than any normal baby would, in fact it was a specially made jumper by Dr. Briefs since Trunks kept breaking the normal ones after he reached 3 months. It was hard to take care of a saiyan child, and it was a good thing Chichi came by every so often to help with Trunks.
As she stared off into the distance, leaning against a wall, her mind couldn't help but wonder off to the 'what ifs'. It was possible Vegeta decided he didn't want to come back ever because Trunks was half human and that made him ashamed. What if she was wrong and he really didn't care about her in any way. Just as her mind was about to wander farther into that worrisome zone, there was a large crash and the ground began to visibly shake. That was recognizable for her as she smiled out the window and saw the lopsided landing of the capsule ship. Trunks looked ready to cry from the frightening noise as he looked up at his mother, however, seeing her smile his face turned to one of curiousity. His brows furrowed in a bit of confusion as he swung his head around to the window, still confused he made a few sounds demanding attention. Hoping to find out what was going on, "Eeeee aaahhhh ooohhhhh aahh hahhhh!" He screamed the usual baby noises as he jumped around in his jumper. However, Bulma didn't take much time on him as she rubbed a hand in a little tuft of his hair, "I'm gonna go get your dada!" She smiled and rushed out of the building, running for Vegeta, ignoring Yamcha she passed by on the couch. Yamcha having a deep frown, as even he knew it was Vegeta coming back, he was really hoping he wouldn't.
She waited outside for Vegeta to exit the ship, and as the door opened Vegeta was revealed, as soon as he caught sight of Bulma a smirk grew on his face, "You're excited to see me?" He laughed at her sarcastically, walking down the short catwalk and landing in the grass with his dirty old boots.
"HAH!" She laughed in his face as she approached him, and held up a palm, she threw it toward his face, which he skillfully took her wrist in his fist, "Woman, do you ever learn?" He wondered teasingly.
Bulma pulled her hand away, quite easily as Vegeta allowed her to, "You left us!"
"A child isn't going to keep me from doing what's important." He spoke seriously now, glaring at her, "You think it was wrong of me to leave and get stronger for the threat that's growing nearer?" He demanded in irritation, "Seems like you need to get your priorities straight." He brushed past her toward the door.
Bulma seethed at him and ran to his side, "I'm not done with you!" She warned.
"Yeah, well, I'm done with you." He proclaimed, not slowing his pace in the slightest.
"You have NO idea how hard it is to take care of a child like that!" She complained, "I needed your help!"
Vegeta turned to her and spat, "Well then that changes everything! Let's raise a child instead of train for this impending doom and let him die when he turns one!" He shook his head and turned again, walking through the living room, not paying Yamcha any attention. This lack of attention for Yamcha was starting to depress the poor guy. Besides, being in the same place as the new couple was a bit unnerving, he got up and decided to go find something else to do. As Vegeta went through he stopped in the other room seeing Trunks in the jumper, "I-Is that…?" he wondered, not raising a finger to point to him, but only staring at the small being. Trunks laughed and reached up as if trying to reach for his father.
Bulma smiled and walked around, she stood beside her little boy and looked up at Vegeta along with him, "Yes, his name is Trunks…" She smiled down at him, although didn't get the reaction she wanted.
"Trunks!? you named my first born child, Trunks!?" He demanded, his fists clenched in rage, it was tradition for his family to name the first born child after himself to continue the Vegeta legacy and continue their pride of the saiyan race. Bulma only gave him an 'are-you-serious' look.
"What did you expect? You missed his birth, why would I name him after YOU!?" She said, "Besides, who wants to be named Vegeta? It's a stupid name!" She spat, sticking her tongue out at him in annoyance, "Trunks suits him better, right Trunks?" She looked down at the baby and he smiled back up at her, giggling like babies tended to do.
"You're one to talk! What kind of name is, Bulma!?" He insulted back just as quickly.
Bulma glared toward him, however, seeing as Vegeta began to seethe as he held his fists at his side and clenched his teeth in annoyance, he was just about to disown the poor child before Bulma decided to tell him, "If it makes you feel any better, I knew you would want to give him your dumb name, I named him 'Trunks Vegeta Briefs' His middle name is yours." She informed, she then picked up her child in her arms and looked at Vegeta, "Do you want to hold him, or not?"
Vegeta seemed to be a loss for words, he wasn't there and yet Bulma had enough respect to give him, his name for the boys middle name, somehow he expected different even if he was going to be pissed. "Uhhh… n-n-" As he was trying to refuse, Bulma held the child out to him as if not allowing him to refuse, the child and he were practically nose to nose as Vegeta instinctually lifted his hands grabbed the baby's torso, gently, Bulma let go and allowed him to hold his son. She stood back and smiled. Vegeta was at a loss for words as he held the child at arms length, as if trying to hand it back, and just watched him as blankly as the child stared back the very same, as if they were both trying to figure out who and what the other was.
Bulma put her hand on her hips and watched in silence at their silence until finally announcing, "Well, say something, say hi! Trunks, say hi!" She said to him in that baby voice mothers tend to get when talking to their baby. Trunks put one hand in his mouth to suck on his fingers, his other hand folding into a fist and tightening and untightening, "iiiiiiieee" He said to him, Bulma aw-ing in the background at how adorable he was.
Vegeta didn't happen to have a reaction for that as he just stared, seemingly in disgust by his facial expression, although, it did soften up, as he had to remind himself, this was a baby, this was his baby. It was his first born son, it was if he could see all that the boy was destined for all at once. He was rebuilding his race, he knew it subconsciously, but it was hard to tell if he was that comfortable with this new reality. "Hey… where's your tail…?" He finally noticed, moving the child slightly out of view of Bulma and glancing at her with a raised accusing brow.
Bulma rolled her eyes, "I was not about to deal with that weird monkey Gorilla craziness that Chichi put up with. I had it removed." She said plainly, unashamed and not prepared to apologize anytime soon.
He didn't have the patience to talk to the woman about how unforgivable that was, but he did whisper to the boy, "Don't worry, perhaps it'll grow back." He encouraged, his son laughing and clapping his hands in glee. "He can't wait to grow it back!" He taunted Bulma, she just rolled her eyes again, but the smile was still on her face as she could see the two finally bonding, she then took out her cell phone and held it up, snapping a picture of the two. It was a bit weird since Vegeta was still holding his son at arms length, but it was still cute when you knew Vegeta's natural personality. She was going to take more pictures, ones that he wouldn't be aware of, she already knew she'd be able to catch him really bonding with his son.
