Chapter four
ﭖ
A room fit for royalty
She shut the door, looked up, and stared in disbelief. What she had thought was going to be an average room with a bed, desk, closet, dresser, and bathroom turned out to be even grander than her room at her home of Calcine Manor.
There were five parts to her room. Right as you walked in there was a small common room complete with furniture, desk, and bookcase. To the left of her common room was her bedroom with its spacious canopy bed and richly colored carpets, to the left of her bedroom was her closet, and what a closet it was, large enough to fit four, full-grown, horses comfortably inside. To the right of her bedroom was her bathroom. A large tub, big enough for several people, sat against one wall along with a sink made of gold, and a toilet. Along another wall sat a vanity table with three, 2x2 foot mirrors. To the right of her common room was her study. It was decorated with a mahogany desk with plush armchair, more bookcases lined the walls and there was a magnificent window behind it.
Aerial crossed to this window and looked out at the amazing view. She could see the forest stretch out below her like a sea of green. Off in the distance a lonely mountain rose up like as in protest to the flatness of the trees. Aerial imagined that she had to have one of the best rooms in this place, and she had not yet seen anyone else's, even Aurolea's.
A knocking on her door brought Aerial out of her trance and she went to answer it. Aurolea stood there and Aerial welcomed her in.
"Can you believe these rooms?" she asked with wondering in her voice.
"No! They're way beyond anything I had imagined." Aerial replied in equal wonder.
The two girls sat there and talked about all of the other things that would probably happen that they had not expected. They were talking for so long that Aerial soon became aware that the sun was setting.
"Aurolea we're going to be late for the Welcoming Feast!" Aerial suddenly cried.
She and Aurolea jumped to their feet and raced for the door. The wrenched it open and Aerial almost crashed into the young man standing outside her door, poised to knock on it.
"Whoa, where's the fire?" asked the man. He was about six feet tall with short brown hair and very tan.
"There isn't one," Aerial replied, embarrassed. "We were just afraid that we were going to miss his Lordships welcoming feast."
"Well you don't need to worry about that because Headmaster Docent sent me to come and fetch you for the feast in the Grand Hall." He told her matter-of-factly.
"Well that is a relief because we have no idea where that is." Aurolea told him.
"My name is Chase and I live at the bottom of the tower so if you have any questions just come and ask. Now shall we make our way to dinner?"
Aerial and Aurolea followed him down the winding stairwell to the arch and out into the courtyard, which was bathed in the light of the setting sun. He led them through the main doors and immediately to the right where there was another pair of magnificent doors. They swung inward at their approach and the sounds of hundreds of people talking all at once crushed down upon them. What they saw next would stay firmly planted in Aerials mind forever.
