I thought of this while reading some RotG fics and thought i'd do a fic that portrayed Casey's relationship with her little brother Matthew better then what I showed in RotG: The Water Guardian Debuts.

Read and Enjoy!

Casey & Matthew

"Come on Casey!" A young boy's voice exclaimed. Fourteen year old Casey Katherine chuckled softly as her ten year old little brother, Matthew, clutched her arm tightly as he pulled her towards the pond close to their house.

"I'm going as fast as I can, buddy." Casey said in mock exasperation.

Matthew's amethyst eyes locked with Casey's emerald ones. "Well go faster." He said. "Mom said we have to be back before dark and we aren't even there yet."

Casey shook her head. For a ten year old, Matthew became easily excited. The Katherine siblings were off to the pond near their home for one reason: it was the best place (to them) to go swimming, something Casey loved more than anything. (Besides Matthew that is.) A few minutes later, they reached the pond. The crystal clear water shimmered in the sunlight and the sister and brother smiles widely.

Matthew wasted no time. Taking off the small belt around his waist and his shoes, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him and jumped into the water. After taking off her own belt and boots, it wasn't long before Casey joined her brother in the pond.

The siblings swam for hours until Casey saw the sun beginning to set. She picked up Matthew and put him on her back, slowly climbing out of the water. Both were still laughing.

"That was fun Casey!" Matthew exclaimed.

Casey nodded in agreement, using her free hand to push her sopping wet dark brown bangs out of her eyes. "Yes it was."

"I don't want to go home."

"But I thought mom was cooking our favorite for dinner tonight?"

At Casey's words, Matthew's eyes lit up and he looked down at Casey as the older girl put him back on the ground. "I'd forgotten that!"

Casey laughed as the ten year old quickly pulled his shoes on and began running back home. She put her boots on, grabbed her belt and it wasn't long before they were enjoying a meal that had been especially made for them.

Later that year, the Katherine family was torn apart when Nicole Katherine succumbed to her long term illness. A few days later, Casey died protecting the only family she had left: Matthew.

Even years later, when he was older, Matthew always looked back on that fun day he had with his older sister. When he married and had his own children, he named his youngest, a girl, after his sister, in honor of her memory and all that she had done for him when he was a child.

Unknown to him, a lone figure kept watch over him, feeling drawn to him, but not knowing why. Brushing her black bangs out of her sapphire eyes, the water spirit smiled and took off into the sky, dark blue gemmed staff held high.

I read this to my younger cousin and sent a copy to MistyLilyValley and arielkatze. They loved it, except arielkatze hasn't said anything yet.

Read and review if you don't mind.
