A/N:Okay, I know this is short, but this is the first peice I've ever written, so feedback is welcomed. Thanks to my beta reader, BrynElizabeth. And with no further ado:

"Hotch."Spencer Reid didn't know what to do. It happened rarely, but it was also happening now. His boss didn't turn.

Why?, he wanted to ask, Why won't you let us help? Day after day he tried. All he wanted was for Hotch to be Hotch again. This Hotch was devoid of everything, not just smiles and laughs like the old one.

"Did you finish the report?"Hotch asked as if he hadn't heard Reid. That hurt him. It hurt that he couldn't be the friend that Hotch needed.

"You are more important then a report."Spencer Reid deflected the question after a minute's deep thought. He wanted so bad to help the deteriorating man before he choose the way out. He knew it was coming; they both did. Hotch loved Haley more then he'd ever admit to anyone. Hotch always downplayed his emotions.

To Reid's words he had no reply. He didn't know what to do either. All he focused on was getting through day after day, not enjoying life in the least.

"Don't."Reid pleaded. With a shock, he realized what reid meant. He spun around quickly to deny it.

"I would never!"Hotch protested. He wasn't lying like Reid thought he was. He would never leave Jack the way Haley left them, never. He had never wanted to consider leaving Jack, ever!

"Are you lying?"Reid scanned his face. How would he know if Hotch was telling the truth? What if he wasn't and he thought Hotch was? Would his death, no, suicide, be his fault?

"No."Hotch answered. They stood there in the parking lot for the longest of moments, analyzing each other, trying to find words.

"Reid, I'm fine."Hotch lied. He wanted this to be over, so he could go home to the one thing that made him happy.

"Don't lie to me!"Reid shouted, causing a passing bystander to turn his head to them. He didn't care how bad he messed their working relationship up. He just wanted Hotch to be alright.

"Thank you Reid, for caring."Hotch said finally. He took in a ragged breath to try and compose himself to no avail. Right there in the parking lot, he lost it. But this time, someone was there.
