SSHGSSHG

Severus Snape loves Hermione Granger more than life itself. He has for a long time, and the world is now aware of the true extent to his devotions. Before the war had ended, the two of them were forced to keep their love only between the two of them, their closest friends not even knowing. Severus could only ever give her the simplest of things, due not just to his position as a spy, but due to his poor upbringing. From the first moment they kissed, he wanted to give her the world and every moment since he has spent suffering at the thought that he never could.

But now, with the war over, he would soon have all he needed to make them happy for the rest of their lives. His shiny new Order of Merlin badge sat over his fireplace mantel in his rooms at Hogwarts, along with a mountain of gold in his Gringots account. When he first began his work as a spy, he had never expected that he would earn something so special as his ability to better provide for the woman he loves. Now, he had money to spend and work to be done.

"Severus? What? What is this?" He had to admit, this was not the reaction that he had been expecting from Hermione when he pictured this moment in his head.

"It's our new house, Hermione." He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close and placing a soft kiss on her head. "Do you like it?"

She waited a few moments before answering, still in shock. "Of course, Severus. It's absolutely wonderful. I really don't know what to say." She didn't sound as excited as her words led him to believe. Hermione turned in his arm to look up at him. "Can we go in?"

"Of course, darling. I signed the papers last night. It's ours." Smiling down at her, he took her hand in his and lead her inside.

The front hall alone kept Hermione speechless, but it was not surprising that it was the library that finally got her excited.

"Oh, Severus, this is amazing. Truly remarkable." She stood in the middle of the room, mentally mapping out where she would put each and every one of her books. He strode up behind her, wrapping his arms around waist and placing a kiss on her neck.

"I'm so glad that you like it, my darling."

She turned once again in his arms, standing on her toes to give him a chaste kiss.

"Sev, this is wonderful, but you didn't have to do this." Severus pulled back briefly, his thunder slowly being stolen at her obviously less than thrilled reaction.

"Of course I had to. And even if I didn't, I wanted to." He ran his hand down her arms. "This is our future, Hermione. This is our first new step towards each other. We can settle down, raise our children in this house." He brought his head down closer to her, his lips nearly touching hers. "We can spend the rest of our lives, happy, in this house." He closed the distance, kissing her to both reinforce the passion of his point and to take her mind off of the house she clearly wasn't happy with.

It seemed to work because when he pulled back a few minutes later, she was smiling up at him, a sparkle in her eyes.

"Come along, my darling. We must get back to the castle. Minerva needs to meet with us about some of the reconstruction." Severus took her hand and led her away from the house that meant so much to his future, hoping that his next gift would not fall so short.
