Disclaimer: I didn't invent anything that has to do with Warhammer 40K. SO DON'T TRY TO SUE ME.
A/N: I don't know a whole lot about the Tau, because I haven't read any of the books except the codex, but I often wonder what it would be like for a warrior. I am translating everything into English, so I will not use anything in the Tau tongue. The only exceptions are names and ranks.
Paik was sweating as he picked a pulse rifle from the rack, despite the frigid cold of the planet Dustaig.
"Getting nervous a little early, are we?" asked the leader of his squad, a Shas'ui. "It's fine though. Everyone's nervous before their first battle. Do you remember the plan?"
"Yes, Shas'ui." He knew the plan like the back of his hand, to use a human expression. Everyone was briefed fully to make sure that if anything went wrong, it could be corrected before the enemy could realize that they had had the upper hand. They also knew the terrain fairly well, an advantage the Tau rarely had due to the fact that they were an expansive race, always attacking a different planet.
Paik put on his helmet and joined the rest of his squad, ten warriors including him and the leader. After a few short minutes of equipment checks, they set out with the rest of the battalion, only about fifty people. They arrived at the location in approximately seven hours. Knowing that they had an hour left before the enemy arrived, each squad went over the plan one final time.
"T minus twenty and counting" came the voice of the ethereal over the radio. The warriors positioned themselves.
Slightly less than seventeen minutes later, the voice of the stealth battle suit warrior filling the position of forward scout was heard.
"They are here!"
A/N: I know that it's extremely short, but I am tired and wanted to post the first bit of this tonight.
What is the enemy that the warriors are preparing to fight? Review and tune in next time to find out!
