Even though I've given up my crown for my friends, I'm still confused. I want to understand why they get so excited when a new year approaches. Throughout the years we've been together, they've explained it in various ways to me. Some of them say it's like being renewed; others tell me that it's to better yourself. It seems like everyone has their own opinion of it, but they all call it the same thing, "resolutions." I understand the dictionary definition, "a firm decision to do or not to do something." The problem is that I don't understand why they need to do it when New Years comes… when they could've done what they set out to do at any point and time throughout the year…

"What's your New Year's resolution Eve?" Many of my friends ask me of this. How should I answer them? They've asked me this multiple years in a row. Even after being with them for so many years, I still don't understand how this works. Everyone has tried to help me and has been so kind to me; however, I still can't reason why or specifically what I want to do.

Should I ask them all again? I'm honestly not sure where to go from this point. It's been an endless loop with no way out.

"Remember Eve. It's something that you want to do, and not what someone else wants you to do, okay?" Rena told me this once.

"Even if you don't have one we're always here for you!" Elsword said, while trying to encourage me.

"I'm sure you'll figure something out!" Aisha had said enthusiastically.

"You're a good person Eve, I'm sure you'll figure this out in time." replied Raven.

"You don't need to rush sweetheart. I'll always be with you no matter what." Chung told me when I told him my concerns.

"Honestly, you don't always need to have a resolution." Add randomly spoke when he overheard my conversation once.

"Be patient, everything will fall into place with time." Rose said to me with a smile.

I remember everything that they've told me. They're all really wonderful… I'd like to do something for them, but I fear that I might mess it up. Then again, I don't really mess up that often, but I'm not sure if this is a resolution. New Year's is quickly approaching, and I only have one thing that I can really think of.

"My New Year's resolution… is to make everyone smile."
