Chapter One: Celebrations.
Luke Skywalker sat in the apartment he shared with Han and Leia Solo on Coruscant. Luke was meditating as he always did though but as of late he was grieving, it had been just under a year since the death of his father Anakin Skywalker to the galaxy he was Darth Vader. Luke sighed still not finding peace his ear perked up hearing Han and Leia enter the apartment. Leia looked at the meditating Luke who was sitting cross-legged on the ground wondering how she could help her brother. Leia could see the pain in her brother's body language, she knew about Darth Vader's death and how he had given his life for Luke's to her knowledge he was the last family save Leia and her husband that he had. Leia knew how that felt she went through what Luke was feeling when Alderaan was destroyed.
Leia gave a worried look to Han before she spoke "Luke the Alliance is throwing a victory ball, I was hoping you would come with Han and I." Leia said softly. Luke sighed again letting his shoulders slouch, he wasn't really a party person especially since the grief kicked in, but he knew he couldn't refuse Leia and as much as he really wanted to he knew that the galaxy would eventually need to meet the Last Jedi Knight, especially if he planned to rebuild the Jedi Order. "Ok Leia I will do it for you, but you know I hate parties." Luke replied in a low voice. Leia ran over and hugged him tightly, "Thanks Luke and don't worry this will be good for both of us." Leia said. Han walked over after Leia ran off to get dressed up and patted Luke on the back "Don't worry kid I know the have drinks there." Han said giving his brother-in-law a smirk. Luke gave him a half smile in response and got up to get ready himself in due time he found his set of tan and brown Jedi robes similar to Old Ben Kenobi's and quickly dressed and left with the others.
At the Ball.
Luke, Leia, and Han entered the ballroom a few hours and were greeted by several guests and diplomats. Leia did her best to keep most of them from swarming Luke but some got through much to Luke's annoyance, asking him for his opinion on galactic affairs while some other asked about the rebuilding of the Jedi Order. Luke patiently answered their questions then made his way to the head table with Leia and Han taking their seats. Mon Mothma made her way to the center of the table picking up a mic left for her at her place thinking of the best speech she could give. "Here we stand one year after the destruction of the Second Death Star a free unoppressed people, and we have these people sitting before you to thank for it." She said gesturing toward the rebels sitting at the table next to her before continuing her speech. "But there are some whom gave everything including their lives for our freedom, including the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker formally Darth Vader, I know it is hard to believe but an eye-witness saw the former imperial enforcer kill The Emperor and save the last of the Jedi Luke Skywalker, I ask that we have a moment of silence for all the lives The Empire has destroyed." Mon Mothma said giving Luke a wink.
After the speech the ball proceeded as planned multiple couples raced to the dance floor and all attendees seemed to be having a good time except for Luke. Luke had to fend off several women looking for a dance partner and as things got too much for him he made his way over to Han at the bar. "Hey kid the women giving you a hard time?" Han asked casually. Luke sighed "I know they mean well Han it is just so hard especially after losing most of my family, I am just so afraid of opening myself after all that." Luke said being honest with his best friend. "My advice kid, if you find her take a leap of faith and trust in the force as you and Leia put it." Luke closed his eyes opening himself to the force feeling something strange yet familiar, no someone now approaching behind him then feeling a gloved hand on his shoulder as he heard gasps around the room "Be at peace Luke Skywalker." A feminine voice spoke.
Luke was stunned he had heard this voice before but tragedy had befallen her long ago "Is it you Shira?" Luke asked. Lumiya gave a soft warm laugh "Yes and no, yes in the sense that I am the same person, no in the sense that I go by that name you may call me Lumiya now." Lumiya said softly. Luke sighed feeling the regret she was carrying "I am sorry how things turned out if you can forgive me I would like to start over The Empire is defeated after all and we don't need to be enemies." Luke said his own regret spilling into his voice as he turned to face her. "I couldn't agree more Luke, there is another thing I have in common with my old self, I truly love you Luke Skywalker I always have." Luke let tears fall as he looked at the woman standing before him. Lumiya wore a suit of armor similar to Darth Vader the difference being she did not wear a mask so her face was visible, she stood giving Luke a warm sincere smile "Luke I was a spy for The Emperor you freed me with what you did and frankly saved both of us but for now please come with me and trust me Luke I will explain everything to you Luke just not here but know in the end I became loyal to your father and not Palpatine." Lumiya said. Han whom sat there listening knew what Luke needed to do "Kid I know what happened between you two you told me once this time I think you need to trust her I don't need the force to know when a woman regrets hurting the man she loved remember what I said about finding the right woman." Han said.
Luke though for a brief moment gave Han a nod "Lets get out of here Lumiya." Lumiya took Luke's hand in hers gently guiding him out of the ballroom to a speeder waiting for them. "Where to if I may ask?" Luke asked. "My apartment is not far from here, we can talk more privately there anyway there is much you need to know Luke and I can imagine you have much to ask me." Luke thought about it for a moment "I suppose we do have a lot to talk about the first I wonder is what you meant about being loyal to my father but as you said when we get there." Lumiya sent a soothing wave of force energy through the force to Luke "No more secrets from me Luke I promise."
At Lumiya's Apartment.
Luke was surprised to find the apartment was well decorated and couldn't help but marvel at the well furnished home of Lumiya "Like what you see Luke?" Lumiya asked. Luke gave her a nod "Your home is breathtaking." Luke said. "I am glad you like it Luke I always wanted to bring you here." Lumiya replied. Luke gave her a curious look. "I have to ask why change your name?" Luke asked. Lumiya wrapped her arms around Luke "Your father gave me that name when he preformed the surgery that saved me, Vader asked me to watch over you and make sure Palpatine didn't kill you." Lumiya said tightening her embrace. Luke understood what she was saying Darth Vader had brought her from the brink of death to protect and love him like she couldn't as an Emperor's Hand. "I don't blame you for what you had to do Luke I just want to live in the here and now and give love another chance, can we do that?" Lumiya asked.
Luke smiled genuinely as he had not in a year "Yes I think we can." He said letting a little joy enter his voice. Lumiya to Luke's surprise leaned forward giving him a long passionate kiss, letting tears of joy fall down her cheeks Lumiya broke the kiss. "Wait here Luke I will be right back." Lumiya went to her bedroom discarding the armor she wore and slipped into a red dress that fit her well. Lumiya then looked in the mirror, the dress was not too revealing though she had nothing to hide from Luke it dropped down past her knees, and was strapless a fact that made her smirk. Lumiya finished dressing and returned quickly to Luke whom was standing in place waiting patiently. "Luke what do you think?" Lumiya asked in a seductive tone. Luke again was stunned, seeing Lumiya appearing to be normal like any other woman no suit just a plain beautiful woman, the only injury that was apparent was the scar on her brow. "You look amazing Shira...I mean Lumiya." Luke said almost stuttering." Lumiya smiled hearing Luke's response, she sent another soothing wave of force energy "Thanks Luke and don't worry with you either name will do, the reason I prefer Lumiya is because it was a name given to me by someone whom actually cared for me.. when Palpatine called me Shira I was never even sure that was the name I was born with so Shira Brie may not even be my birth name, Darth Vader gave me Lumiya as a name to hide my survival from the emperor so I could help you as I said before." Lumiya replied. Luke gave an understanding smile "So you view Lumiya as your true name because it was not a name you used as a spy?" Luke asked. Lumiya smiled nodding her head "Exactly which is one of the main reasons I prefer to be called Lumiya." She said giving Luke a kiss on the cheek. Luke again nodded in understanding, he of all people understood wanting to change how people viewed him, his sister loved him second only to Han but even she gave him a strange look every now and then as if she was afraid of him becoming Darth Vader. Luke sighed remembering how in their final duel he lashed out toward Vader at the end of the fight, shedding a single tear at the memory.
Lumiya had been gently probing his mind and saw this, she also saw how in the end Darth Vader returned to the light and became Anakin Skywalker once again. Lumiya threw her arms around Luke trying to comfort the grieving Jedi. "Luke Skywalker you listen to me, what happened to him was not your doing, everything Vader did was trying to save the only child he thought he had, in the end he chose to die so you could live the life he never could, it was his choice not yours." Lumiya said in a soothing voice. Luke just let the tears flow the war cost him everything, and all he had left was a hand full of people the empire hadn't killed, then the thought occurred to him he still had the woman that held him now. Luke stopped crying but held tight to Lumiya. it was then that Lumiya realized what her old master intended "Luke could I ask a favor of you?" Lumiya purred in his ear. "Anything for you name it." Lumiya gave him a loving smile before she spoke "Train me to become a Jedi Knight, I want to help you rebuild the Jedi Order." Lumiya said. Luke brightened up at that he gave Lumiya a serious look "I will do this you will be a Jedi I promise." Luke said in a slightly serious tone. Lumiya leaned in and kissed Luke passionately for a moment "I won't fail you Luke this I promise." Lumiya said after breaking the kiss.
Luke and Lumiya spent several hours cuddled up on Lumiya's couch watching holo vids and talked about various topics most being around rebuilding the Jedi. as the time went on Luke felt more relaxed more at peace and Lumiya was happier to she silently wondered if this was what Darth Vader intended all along either way it didn't matter, she won the heart of the man she loved and this time no war was coming between them Lumiya thought to herself. and in time Luke bid her a good night and made his way home.
At the Solo's Apartment
Leia and Han were still awake as he arrived "Luke where have you been?" Leia asked using what Han called her mama bear tone. Luke gave her a broad grin one of the first she had seen in over a year. "I was rekindling an old flame if you must ask." Luke replied still smiling. Leia studied her twin for a moment she could feel the joy and peace radiating from Luke, then it dawned on her, Han had told her that a woman Luke knew from his past paid him a visit at the ball a whisked him away but Han didn't know much after that. Luke sensing her thoughts chimed in "Don't be mad at Han he actually did me a favor and I owe him one for talking me into going with her, I guess you get your wish about me seeing someone but it is not quite someone you will expect." Luke said. Leia decided that she would be happy for him, after all none of the diplomats were able to win him as a suiter so whatever woman could pull it off was at least alright in her book. Leia and Han sat quietly with Luke for a few hours as he told them about how it how Lumiya had come to him at the ball and how after they rekindled their relationship she asked to be trained as a Jedi and Han and Leia could only feel joy as the once nearly depressed Luke Skywalker was back to his old self, that being the eager almost fearless Jedi rebel. and in no time the three went to their bedrooms and fell asleep all three being at peace for the first time in their lives.
