The Weight of Her World

Alexandra Eames sighed as she climbed into her car. It had been a long day. And a bad one at that. Her role model. The woman she had admired since her academy days let an innocent man die. Who cares if it wasn't the man who she thought would die? She intended to watch her husband get killed, that's even worse!

Pulling out of the garage she decided that she would not be going home. Well not her home that is. She was going to a place that was practically her home. A place she went after a terrible case. She'd pour out her trials and hardships to the one man she KNEW would understand.

Before she knew it she was in the driveway. After walking up the front steps she hesitantly knocked on the door. It was opened after only a few seconds.

"You know you don't have to knock." The big man said softly. Alex nodded and just walked inside. He put his arm around her shoulder and led her into the living room.

"I had a bad day." She muttered almost to herself. He nodded in understanding.

"I know."

"Everything I believed-"

"I know baby."

"Everything-"

"Let me get you some water."

"No…I'm okay…Just…give me a…second." She swallowed as he sat next to her on the couch. "Ms. Pagonis…it was all her fault…" She let out a choked sob and fell forward into his big arms. Letting everything from the past few months pour out. Everything was so difficult lately. She could barely contain the pain.

"Let it out honey…" He said rubbing her back and kissing her head. "You've been so strong lately, I was wondering when you were gunna come around." Alex pulled back coughing on her words.

"I'm…not s-sup-posed to…b-be like this!"

"Alex! Everyone has their bad cases! You've seen me after my worse!" He brushed back her thin hair and wiped the tears off her cheeks. Alex nodded not being able to say anything else, because of her raw throat.

"Are you gunna be okay?" He asked putting his arms back around her and stroking her hair affectionately. She, again, nodded and sniffled. "Okay, you wanna sleep here tonight."

"Can I?"

"Of course."

Standing up he went into over to the sleeper sofa and began to get it ready for her. Tucking her in, he leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"Goodnight baby, I love you."

"I love you too daddy."

A/N: Awww…sorry if you were in a fluffy mood…but I just love the idea that her dad was a cop too and wanted to play on the scene from Silver LiningCorrect me if I'm wrong where she said she went to her dad when she had a "Beef at work".

The title is from John Mayer's song 'Daughters'.
