Today was the day Lorna had dreaded, Nicky was getting out. She was scared what she was going to do without her best friend and her sex partner when needed. Lorna tried her best to pretend today wasn't really happening. She knew deep down that she liked Nicky more than Vinny. She smiled and looked at Nicky as she slept.
"Today's the day", Lorna quietly said.
She got up and had a shower and then went to breakfast. She sat alone as no one else had come down yet. Nicky came and joined her and smiled.
"Today's the day kid. Today's the day", Nicky said.
"Good luck out there", Lorna said.
"Thank you", Nicky replied.
Lorna went to the closet and Nicky followed her they kissed and had sex for the last ever time. Lorna started to cry as Nicky looked at her.
"Hey, don't be upset kid", Nicky said.
"I'm gonna really miss you", Lorna replied.
Nicky cleaned away Lorna's tears. She couldn't wait to get out but she knew she was going to miss Red, Lorna, Alex, Gina and Norma. Nicky went outside of the closet followed by Lorna and they went to Nicky's leavers party that Red had arranged. Lorna sat on a table and Nicky joined her with some cake.
"Here kid, have this", Nicky said.
"I wanna be happy for you. But in reality I want to punch you because you're leaving", Lorna said.
"I'll keep in touch", Nicky said.
"You better", Lorna replied.
Tgey both ate there cake and Red came over and hugged Nicky. She sorted out her hair and smiled at her. Nicky looked up trying not to cry. Red had been the best prison mom znd mom in general to Nicky. Leaving her was like her mom was dying and there wasn't anything she could do.
"Be good out there kid. I don't ever want to see you come back here. Keep away from those drugs, you hear me", Red said.
"I hear you Red. I'll be fine", Nicky replied.
Luschek came over to collect Nicky. She went back with him to get changed. Lorna stood there watching as she tried not to cry. A few minutes later Nicky came back through to say her goodbyes to everyone. Red gave her a hug.
"You be good out there Nichols", Red said.
Lorna kissed Nicky much to Luschek's surprise and annoyance because he had to stop it even though he wanted to watch the lesbian couple kiss. Nicky pulled away and gave Lorna a hug.
"I'm gonna miss you so much", Nicky said.
"Don't forget about me", Lorna replied.
Lorna burst into tears as Nicky was taken away. Shecwatched through the window as Nicky's van left to take her to the address she'd given them. Lorna ran to her bunk crying. She was going to miss Nicky a lot. Red came in and gave her Nicky's old hoodie.
"It smells like her", Red said.
Lorna smelt it and Red was right. She laid down with the hoodie and cried into it. The fact Nicky was no longer there made Lorna feel as if a chunk of her heart had been broken, it wasn't right. That night Lorna turned to where Nicky would of been and cried herself to sleep.
