::Chapter One::

The Prince

In the forest she stood. She was lost; in a place she had only heard about- Fangorn Forest. She had no companions, food or any weapo... well, let's just put it this way, all she had was her clothes-, which of course, were on her.

The forest was huge. Roots spread all over the forest floor making it hard to walk without falling over, (especially if you were wearing a long white dress.) Jane was lucky if she could even find a small ray of sunlight every now and then, as trees were everywhere, crowding her in. She was tired from walking and needed a rest, though was eager to try and find an escape from the dark, stuffy forest.

All of a sudden, Jane heard a twig snap. She jumped, she hadn't seen any sign of animals nor humans along her venture through the forest, she thought of the possibility of the noise coming from something, not someone. The thought scared Jane, but she was curious to find out who or what made the noise. She slowly and quietly stepped towards the place she heard the noise, 'I know you're there!' She yelled, crossing her fingers it wasn't an orc. She turned her back and all of a sudden and unknown to her, behind her a figure emerged from the bush.

'Who are you, reveal you face!' Some man in the forest's shadow asked. Jane jumped. So it obviously was a human, who had snapped the twig. She turned around. The figure stepped out of the shadows. 'My name is Jane, Princess of Gondor and I am unknown to this place and.. Who are you?' Jane answered rather scared. 'I am Legolas, son of Thranduil, Prince of Mirkwood,' Jane realized he was an elf and obviously not too keen on men- like herself. 'Your name, it sounds rather familiar,' Jane was positive that she had heard the name before. 'I was in the fellowship in the second age, but since then, all the fellowship have died,' the elf suggested. 'Ah, yes. I think that is where I have heard you name before,' Jane realized, 'More to the point, why do you lurk here?' 'An army of Uruk-Hai warriors were close behind me,' Legolas explained, 'and, naturally they picked up my scent. Five or so of the army followed me, I killed one..' 'Well, where are the other Uruk-Hai warriors, that followed you?' Jane feared what his answer would be. 'They too, are in Fangorn forest now,' Legolas said.

How could he be so brave about the fact that five man-sized beastly creatures were following his trail?? 'What? It is not safe for me to wandering Fangorn with five Uruk-Hai warriors close behind!' Jane worried, 'I must leave!' She started to walk off, leaving Legolas, prince of Mirkwood alone. Usually, she would have grabbed her sword and headed of to kill all the Uruk-Hai men, but- no, her father had said she must not put herself in danger, as she was to be married in only a few weeks time. She felt embarrassed about being such a wimp. 'Wait!' Legolas called out. Jane stopped walking and turned around, 'you would be much more safe, if I- I accompanied you.' Legolas exclaimed, although being a strong elf, he couldn't't help but blush. 'Well, come on then.' Jane sighed.
