Hello to all my adoring fans out there! (crickets chirp) Well, whatever! Just read and review! This was made out of total boredom, so no flames. Oneshot.
It was a beautiful day outside; butterflies were fluttering, flowers were blooming, the sun was shining, a breeze was blowing, and the video game blared. Sigh, yes, nobody even knew what a pretty day it was because they were all cooped up inside. Sparx and Chiro were battling it out on the video game, Nova was watching while throwing an insult at Sparx every now and then, Antauri was (duh) meditating, and Gibson was (double duh) in his lab. Otto, surprisingly, was trying to get the others to come outside with him.
"Pleeease?" Otto whined. "You've been inside playing all daaaay!" Otto, to prove his point, opened the curtains.
"THE LIGHT! IT BURNS!!" Sparx wailed, covering his eyes.
"I can't see!! I'm blinded by the light!!!" Chiro frantically waved his arms around, struggling to see.
"That's pathetic," Nova said with disdain.
"Now will you come play with me?" Otto pleaded.
"I will accompany you, Otto," Gibson offered, appearing in the doorway. "And, please, do stop that foolish rambling!" he said to Chiro and Sparx who were slowly getting used to the light.
"Shut the curtains!" Sparx said. In the light, they noticed Chiro had dark circles under his eyes.
Chiro shut the curtains and unpaused the game. Nova laughed when Sparx lost a life.
"Good going, Sparky!" she taunted.
Otto sighed, but then cheered up when he remembered Gibson.
"Aren't you guys coming?" Otto tried one last time.
Chiro grunted.
"Why don't you go watch grass die or something?" Sparx said impatiently.
Otto's face lit up."That's a great idea!" he cried, running out of the Super Robot.
Gibson sighed and followed as Sparx snickered.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gibson and Otto sat in the field near the Super Robot. Otto was leaning forward, his face inches from the ground. After about 2 minutes, he sighed and sat up straight.
"Nothing's happening!" Otto complained. He picked up a blade of grass and twirled it between his fingers, momentarily distracted. "Gibson, how does grass die?" Otto asked out of curiousity. (here it comes)
"It's actually quite simple, Otto. Grass can die for a number of reasons, and the type of grass might determine the likelihood. For example, tall fescue can endure more heat and drought than bluegrass before dormancy, but that heat and drought can be such that tall fescue is unable to withstand while in a dormant state and not return, whereas bluegrass is more likely to be able to break dormancy and return. Once tall fescue is gone, it's really gone. Bluegrass is better able to recuperate. But, that's just comparing bluegrass and tall fescue...."
Gibson went on and on about who-knows-what, and Otto soon lost interest. He looked up at the clouds. "Hey, that one looks like a bunny!" Otto cried, interrupting Gibson's long-winded explanation.
Gibson sighed. It was useless. A doorknob could pay more attention. "Did you even hear a word I said, Otto?" Gibson demanded.
"Well, umm, something about blue colored grass? Is that possible?" Otto asked, growing excited.
Gibson sighed. "No, Otto, it's just a term for a species of grass."
Otto gazed up at the clouds. "Gibson?"
"Yes?"
"What are clouds made of?"
Here we go again........
So, how did ya like it? It's just a random little fic I made out of boredom. Read and Review!
