I don't own. Which kinda makes me sad.
007. Work
"You are not taking over this case," Tony DiNozzo shouted as Gibbs walked towards the crime scene on the aircraft carrier.
"Why not? As I understand it, the man was found on a Navy ship. I work of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service," Gibbs said, taking a sip of coffee.
"That man was a member of the Baltimore police department," Tony said, chasing after him. "Which I just happen to work for."
"Well, I'd suggest you keep a better eye on your men."
"Do you really think you can win this jurisdictional pissing match?"
"I've already won."
"This is my case!" DiNozzo felt he was running out of arguments, so he said, "I got here first."
Gibbs stopped and looked at the younger man. "You gonna give up some time soon?"
"Not planning on it sir," DiNozzo replied.
Gibbs paused for a moment. "Fine," he finally said. "We share jurisdiction. But I lead. And don't call me sir." And he began to walk through the ship once more.
"And why exactly should you lead?"
"Because," he began as they approached the crime scene itself. "My ME got here first." He smiled and ducked under the tape into the room where Ducky was already examining the body.
"What've you got Ducky?" he asked as the police officer joined them.
"Victim died well over twenty four hours ago. But this is not where she died," he said.
"How can you tell?" DiNozzo asked.
"Lividity on the side indicates she was lying on her left side long enough for blood to pool. Then she was moved. Reminds of a case I had several yeas back – Who are you? Jethro, who is this?" Ducky asked, realizing that a new presence had joined them.
"Tony DiNozzo, Baltimore PD," he introduced himself. Normally he would have held out a hand, but thought better of it, seeing as the medical examiner was wearing bloodstained gloves.
"Doctor Donald Mallard," he replied.
"Which would explain the Ducky," Tony said, referring to Gibbs' statement when they entered.
"That is a nickname reserve red for close friends and colleagues."
"Right."
"But I suppose you might qualify." Tony smiled.
"Gloves," Gibbs said, holding out a pair of DiNozzo to take.
"I'm not deficient," he said, pulling a pair of gloves out of his own kit.
"Good to know. You bag and tag. All evidence goes to my analyst before it goes anywhere near your department."
"Why's that?"
"You guys have a tendency to leak information. Besides, who's leading this case?"
DiNozzo realized that there was no point in continuing this conversation.
Once he was out of earshot, Ducky leaned over to Gibbs and said, "He's quite a looker. Where'd you pick him up at?"
"On the flight deck. He wanted jurisdiction to be his."
"Why?"
"Victim is a Baltimore cop."
Ducky let out a "Hmm," of understanding. "You keeping him?"
Gibbs was thoughtful for a moment. "We'll see."
Okay, for the record, I do know that Tony was a baltimore cop. Before that he was in Philly and before that it was Peoria. I've seen every episode numerous times and I know everyones history just as good as anyone. In my opinion, it was more convenient for him to be a DC cop. It's called fanfiction for a reason. I felt like making a little adjustment.
I realize that only one person has mentioned it, but I've had several comments about it elsewhere. I really don't feel that I should have had to change it, but seeing as I'm really not in the mood to deal with the human race in general, I changed it so I won't have to deal with people just can't leave minor details alone.
