Just a little OutlawQueen one-shot based on the Eric Clapton song! I hope you guys enjoy this, we lost one the best characters out there last week but Robin Hood will live on through all of our hearts and he will never be forgotten, so this is sort of in honour of Robin as well. Oh and I do not own OUAT or any of the characters mentioned because if I did then last week's episode certainly wouldn't have went down the way it did
It was late in the evening and Robin was standing at the bottom of the stairs in his grey suit, waiting patiently for Regina to come down so they could go to Emma and Killian's engagement party. The archer ran his right hand through his brown hair and checked his watch, it was coming up for 7:30pm and Regina still hadn't come downstairs, he wondered what was keeping her as he had helped her decide on which dress to wear almost an hour ago, surely she couldn't have changed her mind again. He exhaled a breath and decided to see what was taking her so long, he jogged up the stairs two at a time careful not to trip over his new shoes, he had been finding it difficult to walk in them since he had been used to wearing boots his whole life but Regina insisted that the shoes would look better with the suit.
Robin approached their bedroom door and slowly pushed it open, he was expecting to see his love in the pantsuit she had worn to work but he was speechless when he saw that she was wearing a tight fitting blue dress that hugged her figure perfectly. She looked stunning. Regina hadn't realised that Robin had entered the room until he came into view in the mirror she was sitting in front of; she was just applying a few final touches to her makeup before taking a brush through her long silky hair. She suddenly felt nervous; Robin hadn't said a word since he entered the room and she was beginning to think that he was angry at her for taking so long.
"Do I look alright?" She asked hesitantly as she bit her lip softly, catching his eyes in the mirror.
Robin let out a breath that he didn't even know he had been holding, Regina looked more than alright, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. "Yes, you look wonderful tonight." He smiled at her.
Regina blushed and looked down before meeting his blue eyes in the mirror again. She stood up and walked towards him, brushing her hands along his shoulders. "Shall we?"
Robin smiled again and nodded as they looped their arms together and made their way to his car, driving to The Rabbit Hole.
When they arrived, Robin was chivalrous as ever with her, helping her out of the car and looping their arms together once again. Regina leaned her head on his shoulder as they made their way into the building. As soon as the couple walked in, they were greeted by looks of envy and awe as other guests took in Regina's appearance. Regina found herself feeling nervous for the second time in the night as she tightened her grip on Robin's arm, she didn't understand why everyone was staring at her. Her lover noticed her shyness and smiled softly, kissing her lightly on the forehead. As a way of distracting her from all of the attention she wasn't used to getting, he stopped walking and tilted his head to look at her.
"Would you care to dance, milady?"
Regina smiled brightly at his offer, she knew they would have to find Emma and the pirate to congratulate them but right now she just wanted to be in Robin's arms, pretending as if they were the only two people in the world.
"Just don't step on my feet." She teased.
"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it, milady." Robin replied with a small smirk on his face as he led them to the empty dance floor.
Neither of them cared that they were the only two people dancing; all they wanted was to share their love for one another and create memories that they could look back on and tell their grandchildren about because, in all honesty, they wanted everything with each other. As they became more comfortable on the dance floor, they allowed themselves to get even closer to one another. Regina wrapped her arms tightly around Robin's neck and absentmindedly toyed with his hair as she rest her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes whilst Robin gently trailed the tips of his fingers up and down her back before resting his hands just above her curvaceous behind. They loved being close to each other, whether it was intimately or not, just as long as they could hold one another and caress one another they would be satisfied.
They swayed for what felt like an eternity but it still wasn't enough for either of them, Regina opened her eyes slowly and noticed that there were a lot more people dancing around them now. She tilted her head up to look at her thief and noticed that he was in deep thought.
"Do you feel alright?" She asked with a quiet voice.
Robin's eyes immediately met Regina's breathtaking brown ones and found himself getting lost in them before he could answer the question. He quickly snapped out of his daze and gave her a reassuring smile, the smile that showed off those dimples she loved so much.
"Yes, I feel wonderful tonight." He kissed her softly after seeing her smile at his answer. He would tell her at one point about how he was thinking his future with her, how he would get down on one knee and ask her to be his wife, how he could picture the two of them taking Henry and Roland out on picnics, how they were already a family but for now, he just wanted to focus on the moment he had right now. It's not like either of them were going anywhere, Regina was his future and he wouldn't have it any other way. He only hoped that Regina could see that he loved her as much as she loved him if not even more, every time he looked at her he could see the love in her eyes and he couldn't describe how that felt. He would give up the world for Regina Mills, she loved him and he loved her, that was clear to the both of them but he could only pray that she understood just how much he loved her. She was his soul mate, his second chance and he would be forever thankful to whoever brought her into his life.
The rest of the night passed as a blur for Robin, he briefly remembered Killian telling him to try this new rum he had found and to say that Robin enjoyed it would be an understatement. He felt bad for leaving Regina to be the designated driver without even asking her but the brunette insisted that she wanted him to enjoy the night with his friends as well as her, besides, the couple would get plenty time together in the future, perhaps Robin could get Killian back at his and Regina's engagement party, who knows? Only time can tell.
After dancing with Robin, Regina spent part of the night with the Charmings and, as much as she hated to admit it, she loved their company. They were her family. She loved being in such a kind and caring environment, they had come so far since their time back in the Enchanted Forest but Regina wouldn't change it for the world. She was glad that Henry and Roland would grow up in such a warm and loving community but most of all, she was just glad that she would get her happy ending with the people she loved most, particularly a forest-smelling thief.
The engagement party was a blast for everyone, Regina loved every second she spent with Robin and she couldn't help but imagine what their engagement party would be like. It didn't matter if they were ready for the commitment just yet but they both knew it was only a matter of time before they took the next step in their relationship. They were two of the few people left remaining at the party before they mutually decided that it was time to go home. They hugged their friends goodbye as Robin playfully punched Killian's shoulder for supplying him with his newfound alcoholic beverage, the archer was going to regret drinking it all in the morning, he could already feel his head beginning to ache. Before the couple got into their car, Robin gave the keys to Regina and kissed her gently.
"Get in the car, thief," she smiled into their kiss before breaking it and getting into the driver's seat.
The drive back to the mansion was sat in a comfortable silence with Robin's hand on Regina's knee; they just needed to be close to one another. The two would occasionally share affectionate glances and small smiles at each other; Regina often giggling at Robin's slightly intoxicated state. She knew she was going to have to get him out of his suit and into their bed without any sort of help from him, it's a good thing she loves him otherwise he would be spending tonight in the forest with Little John and the rest of the Merrymen.
They arrived back at the mansion moments later and Regina had to practically drag Robin to the bedroom, she sat him on the bed and began stripping him of his new suit before laying him down in the large bed. Regina smiled at her sleeping lover and kissed him on the forehead softly, he looked so innocent and peaceful when he was asleep, she couldn't imagine finding a better soul mate. Robin stirred when he felt Regina's lips on his forehead and watched as she undressed before crawling in beside him, he turned and wrapped her up in his embrace, kissing her shoulder. The brunette smiled as she snuggled back into Robin's hold on her; however, she had to move to turn off the light on her dressing table beside the bed. Robin noticed that Regina was squirming to get out of his hold but he realised that she was only trying to turn off the light so they could sleep but, instead of letting her go, Robin stretched his arm out and turned the light off himself, leaving them in complete darkness. The archer kissed her shoulder again.
"My darling, you were wonderful tonight." He whispered into the night.
Regina blushed and bit her lip much like she had done at the beginning of the night; she loved the way Robin made her feel. Instead of replying, the queen just settled back into his embrace and held on tightly to his arms wrapped around her middle. She closed her eyes with a small smile on her face; she was exactly where she wanted to be.
Did you guys enjoy it? Oh and the suit Robin wore was the same one Sean wore to Comic Con last year in case you couldn't get a visual, what did you all think of the story?
