"How disappointing," Valvalis said, her grip on Rosa's jaw tight enough that her knuckles were white. "I'd expected her to be prettier."
"Jealous?" Kain asked.
Valvalis scoffed and let go of Rosa. "Humans have such undeserved egos."
"Kain..." Rosa whispered, pulling helplessly against her restraints. "Kain, please."
"She's not even your female, you pathetic worm." Valvalis sneered.
Kain narrowed his eyes. "I'll prove myself to her soon enough."
"If you were powerful like my kind, you would simply take her. She can't even--"
"Kain, stop this," Rosa said, her voice choked by tears.
Valvalis growled in irritation. "Shut up, you pathetic woman."
Valvalis raised her hand to hit Rosa. Kain caught Valvalis's wrist and pulled her away. She laughed, and after Kain had stopped, she pushed him until his back was against the wall. Valvalis pressed her lips against his, until he relented and opened his mouth to her. She ran her tongue along the bottom of his teeth, and against the inside of his cheek, then she drew away.
"Before I met you, I thought that human habit -- kissing -- was disgusting." She reached down to unfasten his belt. "I think you're leaving bits of humanity in me when you fuck me, Kain."
Kain fixed his eyes behind Valvalis, over her shoulder. "And I think you're leaving bits of devil inside of me," he muttered as he watched Rosa cry.
