So this is a random idea I had while reading one of my favorite areas of literature: Greek mythology. (Seriously! Ask me any question about Greek myths and I can answer it.)

I know you've all heard of ReaperTale, the AU where all the monsters are gods and goddesses. This is a different take on it, very different. So different, in fact, that it's a new AU entirely. I'll call it… ImmortalTale. I honestly hope you'll all enjoy it.

Note: I do not own Undertale or Greek mythology. The latter belongs to everyone, while the former belongs to Toby Fox.

In the beginning, there was nothing but Earth and Sky. They were lonely, so they decided to create beings to keep them company.

Sky created beings to walk on Earth's surface and Earth grew plants to feed those creatures. Together, they also created gods and goddesses to govern their creations. Asgore, the king of the gods, created their home on Mount Ebott.

There were nine main gods and goddesses who lived on Mount Ebott. Asgore was king, and he was also god of fatherhood. His wife, Toriel, was goddess of beauty, life, family, childbirth, and motherhood. Papyrus was the messenger of the gods, an easy task, given his seemingly limitless energy. Undyne was goddess of the ocean and war. Alphys was the goddess of wisdom and schooling. Mettaton was the god of love, music, poetry, drama, art, crafting, and inspiration. W. D. Gaster was the god of death. Sans was the judge of all mortals before they were allowed into the Afterlife. And Asriel, son of Asgore and Toriel, was the messenger of the gods and was god of healing, medicine, love, and the hearth and home.

Not long after they began ruling their realm and Asriel's birth, Toriel came across a human infant, a baby girl. Taking pity on her, she brought the baby home and Asgore was delighted to have a second child. When the girl reached ten years old, she was gifted with immortality, so that her adoptive parents would never have to send her to Gaster's realm in the Void, what was called the Afterlife. She was named Chara, "friend", for she would be the connection between mortals and their gods.

ONE THOUSAND YEARS LATER…

Chara gazed at the entrance to the town. The sign welcomed her to Snowdin, a fitting name for a town that saw snow nine months of the year. She'd stay for a few months, then move on, as she always did.

Then there was the question of where she was going to stay the first night. Usually, she'd stay one night with a family then find a home to rent the next day.

She knocked on door after door, but nobody seemed to be home; they were at some sort of ceremony.

Just when she gave up and sat by the well, a human girl of about sixteen approached her.

"Um, excuse me?"

Chara looked up at her. The girl had medium length dark brown hair and unusual eyes—one was sapphire blue while the other matched the emeralds rich human women wore. Her skin was rather tan, implying she spent quite a bit of time in the sun. The dress she wore was stained and patched and stitched, as if it was the only dress she'd ever owned.

"Do you need somewhere to stay?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Yes, I do," Chara replied.

"My aunt and uncle have room, if you don't mind."

"That would be fine, thank you."

The girl led Chara towards a rather nice home near the center of town. The inside showed her aunt and uncle had quite a bit of money to spend.

"This is a rather nice house," Chara commented.

"Yes. I've lived here ever since I was six years old." There was a wistful tone in her words.

"What's your name?"

"Francis, but my parents and favorite cousin call me Frisk. I prefer Frisk. Who are you?"

"Chara."

"Oh!" A deep blush spread across Frisk's cheeks. "I h-hope you aren't—"

"Upset?" Frisk nodded. "No, I'm not. I always stay the night with a local family when I come to a new place."

"Oh, thank goodness!" She began walking up the stairs. "Your room is up here."

The room was rather simplistic, but the bed was comfortable enough.

"Where do you sleep?" Chara inquired.

"In the kitchen. Aunt Petunia says I'm far too plain to be close to everyone else."

Chara gave Frisk a good look. She was rather beautiful, by human standards, but was far too thin. Her ribs showed through her dress, a sign she was underfed. Under her bright eyes were dark circles, indicating a lack of sleep during the night. Her hands were callused and hard, a sign of her hard work. It reminded Chara of how slaves were often treated by their masters.

Meaning Frisk's aunt and uncle considered her their slave.

"Thank you for your kindness, Frisk."

"It's no trouble. I'll probably have to do extra chores for not getting Uncle Vernon's permission, but it's worth it to see a happy traveler."

With that, Frisk disappeared into the kitchen.

And that concludes chapter 1 of ImmortalTale! I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Yes, Frisk's aunt and uncle were named after Harry Potter's and they also have a son named Dudley. I gave them a daughter, as well: Olivia. She treats Frisk like a human being 24/7; in fact, Frisk only gets food when Olivia sneaks it to her.

Why is Olivia important beyond that?

Well…

I'll delve into that later on in the story.

Chara is a priestess of the gods, traveling around, spreading their declarations, since Papyrus is usually very busy. Sans is someone else that will come more into play later. I hope you all enjoy this AU, since I've been developing the basics for about two weeks now. Now that it's finally written, make suggestions for the lesser gods and goddesses. I'll be checking back every now and again!

In the meantime…

So long and thanks for all the fish! *dances with dolphins*
