Chapter 1: The Fated Death
The White Knight with honor stained, will die of flame and a glass blade.
The Warmaiden who is lightning's bane, perishes through venom in her veins.
The Champion with passion and will, shall fall to her knees through her heel.
The Last who survived so much, will meet their end by their own touch.
This was a prophecy, something that Ozpin heard many lives ago, from a woman whose Semblance allowed her to see the future, but only give the most vague (And admittedly, frustrating) descriptions possible. He had hoped that she would give some hope towards the defeat of Salem, but he had taken care to remember everything said by her, just in case it came up.
Thus his interest in Team JNPR.
Jaune Arc, despite his forged transcripts, was clearly the Knight. One of the very few individuals to wear armor, and wield a sword and shield. Even what he's seen of his personality proved that.
Nora Valkyrie, the Warmaiden, who's electric Semblance was clearly referenced in the prophecy.
Pyrrha Nikos, his choice to be the Fall Maiden, was a Champion both literally and prophetically.
Lie Ren would then be the Last, proven by his symbol being that of Kuroyuri, a village that had fallen a decade ago to the Grimm.
But then the Fall of Beacon happened, and he learned of Cinder Fall, who clearly preferred to use the element of flame of all the powers she acquired by taking the Fall Maidens power.
After reuniting with team RNJR, a name that had been given to the remnants of JN-R and Ruby Rose as they headed for Mistral, he had taken Ruby aside and probed as cautiously as he could about what she had seen atop Beacon's tower. Far more quiet and stoic than he'd otherwise seen her, the young Reaper explained as best she could.
An arrow sticking out of her heel, and Cinder burning her to ash.
It was tragic putting her through that memory again, but it had proven his thoughts, that Team JNPR were all fated to one day die, in specific manners.
Team RNJR encountered Tyrian Callow, a Scorpion Faunus that worshipped Salem, during their time travelling to Haven, who could very well be the poison referenced in Nora Valkyrie's death.
Cinder Fall would clearly be the end of Jaune Arc, just as she was with Pyrrha Nikos. Based on Jaune Arc's clear grudge and almost mental instability, it was sure to happen with time. Sooner or later, an attempt to kill her would either fail at cost of his life, or succeed in taking them both from this plane.
That left Lie Ren, who was prophesied to take his own life, which would no doubt occur after the death of Nora Valkyrie, possibly after both her and Jaune Arc cease to walk Remnant.
He sighed and looked out the window of the home they were using while staying in Haven, even as Oscar began to stir with restlessness in wonderance when he could regain control of his body.
He couldn't save them, although…
No.
The meanings of prophecies were rather difficult to perceive, but this seemed quite clear.
Jaune Arc would die to Cinder Fall, just as Pyrrha Nikos did.
And yet… something about that seemed… wrong. He wasn't sure what, but something felt quite odd.
That would take some thought… but they had time while Leo Lionheart worked to find Huntsmen that could help them out.
