"I get it. You two have fun."
A flash of teal hair, and just like that, her beloved was out the door.
It was okay, though. She trusted her to be back.
A quick trip to the kitchen to hop up on the counter after fixing something to eat cured her boredom.
For about fifteen minutes, that is.
It was always the same routine.
"I'll be going now. I'd invite you, but he doesn't really like you much…"
"I get it. I don't want to start any fights."
"I'm glad, because, well, you see…"
"It's fine, just go."
"Thanks for understanding!"
The rest of the day for Rin was always similar to the day before. Watch some television, read a bit of her book, wait by the door such as a puppy would, give up and go to bed, but somehow stay up until Miku got home.
Of course, she wondered what the tealette was doing with Len, but asking of such activities was surely not allowed. She couldn't bring herself to ask a question like that; it was rude, wasn't it?
At the end of the day, she removed her bow with a sigh. Today had been their day. But Miku and Len were going out shopping, weren't they?
How long did shopping take?
The blonde leaned against the headboard, head drooping. Of course she'd stay up waiting for Miku.
She always did.
Beep, beep…
It's nothing, just in her dream.
No, wait, it's not.
The door sounded like it was being broken down.
The Kagamine female scrambled out of bed, slipping and almost landing face first in the process. She didn't even remember falling asleep.
A glance at the clock told her it was four in the morning.
"Miku…?"
The words tumbled from her mouth before she could stop them. Miku was usually home by now. Especially by now. Most of the time, by midnight.
Maybe Miku forgot her keys. Yea.
That was a good explanation.
Bare feet thumped the hardwood floor, then smacked the tiled-kitchen one on her way to the front door.
The moment Rin opened the door, she understood what was going on.
She knew this story.
She had seen this before a million times.
It never failed to stop.
She thought tonight might be the night, just like any other night.
"Are you Miss Rin Kagamine?"
"Yes."
"Do you know Miss Miku Hatsune?"
"….Yes."
"I'm sorry to break it to you, but Miss Hatsune was caught in an accident along with Mister Len Kagamine on the way back from a bar."
"I…I know."
"You know?"
Rin slammed the door in the officer's face, tears pouring down her face for the fifty-third night in a row.
She was counting.
Every single day was the same.
Every single one.
She had eventually convinced herself that every night was a dream.
One day, she would wake up and the day would have a different name, a different date, a different fate.
No.
Miku had been cheating and she knew it.
Possibly it was just part of the dream.
Hopefully.
It was her wish.
Miku never lived a day for Rin to ask about her relationship with Len.
Every single day was the same.
Rin kicked the door after locking it and dragging her body back to bed, hoping for the best.
Maybe the next day would be different.
Perhaps she would wake up next to Miku, not unlike every morning, and ask her the date.
Perhaps Miku would reply with March twenty-ninth, twenty-sixteen, instead of the twenty-eighth.
It was a wish that Rin could only have out of her dreams.
