Emily looked at herself in the mirror. She thought that hopefully she looked presentable. "Its not like I'm going to know anyone there anyways" she told herself.

"Emily? Are you almost ready to go?" her dad asked.

"Um, yeah ill be down in a sec."

She looked at herself one more time, adjusting her outfit, making sure the scarf Maya had given her was on straight and she freshened up her make up. She always loved the rosy pink shade of her lipstick.

"Oh Maya" Emily thought to herself. She missed her a lot. She missed the smell of her perfume it reminded her of winter how it was cool and crisp. It reminded her of the snow and it made her smile thinking about it. She also missed the smell of her banana bubble gum.

"Emily?" Oh yeah. Emily often fell into these little day dreams of Maya. She was lonely. What else was she suppose to feel. Her first girlfriend dead? Lonely.

Emily walked down stairs to see her dad waiting at the door. She hugged her mom bye and let her mom and dad say there byes as she walked to her dad's truck.

Emily loved going with her dad. Hanging out with him and his friends. She felt normal with them. Tonight his friends were having a small get together and of course Emily was invited. Its not like they were doing anything bad. Emily had gone to a thousand of these get together when her dad was in town. She enjoyed it.

Her dad got in the truck and they were on there way. He asked the usual "How was your day?" and she answered with the usual "Fine." and then there was silence the rest of the way there. She didn't mind though. It gave her time to think. Think about school. Think about swimming. Think about Maya. Think about this one girl named Paige on her swim team.

"Oh paige" Emily thought to herself. How lovely it would be to have the courage to talk to her. Be her friend. To Emily just getting to talk to Paige would be enough. Even though Emily was the best swimmer on her team "GO SHARKS" Emily still couldn't bring herself to say "Hi." She just looked at her from afar. Soaking in her lovely vibe of beauty.

Emily often thought of scenarios with Paige. Paige showing up to her house, Emily showing up to her's. Holding hands while walking under the mid-October Autumn leaves admiring the leaves color's.

Emily would even say "What if her dad and my dad are friends and he brings her to one of the partys?" This would always cross her mind when they were on there way, which they were.

Emilys heart skipped a beat which made her look up. They were here. Oh great Emily thought.

She got out of the truck and waited for her dad. He finally got out and walked up to the door with Emily. "This is it." Emily joked to herself. She wished she had a mirror so she could check herself one more time but she would have to wait until later.

She took a deep breath right before she opened the door.

She was going to need it.
