A/N: This one-shot is a partner story to 'Beautiful Disaster' and the idea came when I listened to a song on the radio called 'Father to Daughter' and here we are.

The entire day had gone by in a blur. My wife, who lay asleep next to where I was sitting, had, that afternoon had given me a beautiful daughter, who, at this moment, lay asleep in my arms. Naomi had inherited the majority of her looks from me, right down to her little face. I myself had not had a good childhood, and I was damned and determined to be a good father. Naomi opened her eyes, which were deep pools of violet and looked up at me with a curious expression. Looking back at Kasumi, who was out like a light, I picked up Naomi and took her outside. Before I did though, I wrapped her up in a blanket she had been given by Kagome, who was a childhood friend of Kasumi's.

Walking outside to the nearby lake, I sat down, holding Naomi in my lap. For a newborn baby, she was unusually aware of her surroundings, even by demon standards. No doubt she would be a great beauty when she grew up. She tried to grab at a few fireflies that were buzzing around and giggled when she caught one. It was a nice moment to bond with her. I told her about my own life, leaving out certain details – mainly regarding the events the last time I was on Horai Island. Naomi was too young to know about it, though I did intend to explain it to her when she was old enough to understand. Looking up at the sky, I wondered what the future held. Not just for myself, but for everyone. I had not seen much of my own friends, except for Kyora, who made regular visits with his own son, who was almost a year old. I wondered what had become of other people I had met during my lifetime, but then again, sometimes it wasn't worth it to dwell on matters of the past.

At that moment, I realized that Naomi was staring intently at me, with a rather curious expression on her face. I set her down on the grass and took off my own outfit and brought her into the lake for a swim. It was rather warm out, and being a reptilian demon, I had my limits when it came to the heat. Holding Naomi firmly, she splashed about in the water, curious with the new situation. Compared to human babies, demons tended to master basic skills like walking so much faster, along with most of their motor skills. I wasn't sure about half-demon babies; I had never actually interacted with one. I could hear the chirping of birds as morning came upon us. Getting dressed quickly to avoid stares from a small group of single women in the village, I headed back. Kasumi was still asleep, and I lay Naomi next to her. The sight brought a smile to my face, when just a few short years ago I didn't think that I would ever have a family to call my own. Laying down, I closed my eyes and fell into a slumber.

Some would say a daughter's first hero is her father, but my daughter is my hero.
