Petra was in school when the aliens came. It wasn't expected by anyone that she knew, but it was hard to miss something that was showing on every channel, especially when the teachers dismissed class suddenly (a foolish choice on their part) and advised everyone to hide in the basement (slightly less foolish; did they think everyone was going to comply?). Regardless of her opinions on the teacher's foolish behavior, Petra was certainly going to take advantage of it. Spiderman (why would those foolish reporters mistake her gender when she was wearing a skintight suit?) would make the most of the bountiful prey.

"Quick, frantic movements hid her in the crowd of evacuating students. When she reached the doors, running carried her out before anyone could notice, apart from her friend Gwen. Petra reached a point where she could access her suit, and changed quickly, the darkness hiding her figure. With a grab at her web shooters and a reload of all her available cartridges, Spiderman (no they couldn't change her title when a picture of her finally caught on to her admittedly petite figure) was ready to head to the battlefield.

"Web slinging was truly the most efficient was to get around in New York City. In a few minutes, she was at Stark tower, the sight of the battle. A number of large, insect like things were entering the fray from some weird glowing blue thing. Just watching the strange, green person wrestle with one of the mid-sized Flies (she didn't care what the things' species was, the were prey, she would simply refer to them as such) put that notion to rest. How do you catch prey many times bigger than yourself when larger beings failed to swat them efficiently? A web would work! Silently thanking God that she hadn't tossed the sticky web cartridges when she was told that people would get upset and call the police on them, she reached to her arachnid instincts and practiced architectural logic (she was the only spider that could change her web) she quickly stuck to a building and switched to a not sticky web type to make a framework to work from.

"Once there was a rough framework she could work on, she started on trap webs to string between the frames. Avoiding or using the bodies of those already trapped, she kept making the web bigger and more efficient. By the time that she was spotted, there were at least fifty plump Flies caught in her web

"What's this?" Tony stark yelled as he barley dodged the web in a sharp turn.
"A gift from your friendly neighborhood arachnid," she called, humored she hadn't been noticed beforehand./p
"And what is Spiderman doing here?" called Hawkeye in a deadpan, honestly not expecting a known local vigilante to step in at a battle Shield and the Avengers had been working on for days.

"I saw flies to catch, of course." Irritated by that awful name, she continued: "Better question - why's a birdy trying to catch bugs in New York? I am sure there's plenty of crumbs lying around." Yeah, it was rude, but there was no reason for him to get huffy at her. Besides, a snarky answer would convey that she was confident in her right to be there.

"Ha, got you there," Ironman approved of the joke, "But seriously, we got a summons from an intelligence agency. How did you know?"

If he was being polite, Petra saw no reason not to return the favor. "Something called live stream TV. I am certain the head of Stark Industries has herd of it sometime before. By the way, there's still an invasion going on, and if you want to do anything about it, chatting isn't the way to go about it."

"Our plans didn't include you," Hawkeye said rather rudely.

"Than just carry it out and avoid the webs, I think that you know how to do that much"

"Oh, I like you," Ironman said, equally impressed by the snark and the plan. "I think we can do that," he said as he left to do something else, Petra wasn't paying attention. She was busy making another web to catch the redirected flow of aliens.
