Hi! i just got this idea yesterday, while watching fireworks. The story is really short and bad, but I just came up with it last night while I was delirious, I was so tired. I didn't even edit or proofread it, so please don't hate if there is any grammar or spelling mistakes. Happy Independence Day!
Alfred watched as fireworks exploded, sparkling, dazzling, shining, glowing, until they finally faded into ghosts of what they once were, wispy patches of smoke.
It was always so exhilarating to feel all his people at peace like this. Not because of the fireworks painting the sky, nor the drinks and pastries available for everyone, but rather the concept of freedom in their country, the day America had officially gained its independence.
Alfred shook his head with a sad smile on his face, eyes closed as if that would save him from the bloodstained memories approaching him. He'd much rather watch fireworks than think about what he had to go through to gain that very independence.
He knew that the fireworks weren't the best for the environment, but they were beautiful. Not that nature wasn't beautiful, but fireworks held the beauty of rising, growing expanding, shining, and fizzling away to the smoke that marks the sky, until the wind wipes it away, forgotten and never to be seen again.
In this way, Alfred was kind of like a firework, but Alfred will never fade away until all his people fade. A few people are lucky enough to still have smoke that marks our lives, men and women who have shone so brightly, they could fade from the world but never from the lives that have been impacted.
Alfred smiled, but it was nostalgic rather than sad. So many people have helped build Alfred into the nation he was now, risking everything for the generations yet to come. And here he is now, sitting on a chair, sipping coke, trying to come up with special names for all the fireworks, as his nation all united under one idea:
Freedom.
So yeah. Told you it was bad. But please review anyways because I am still new at this story-writing thing. All flames will be used to make gooey s'mores.
