"What are they doing?" Jethro whispered in his ear.
Tim wasn't about to admit he jumped a little but the chuckle against his neck, he knew Jethro knew. Tim's eyes stayed glued on what was going on in the living room even as he leaned back into his lover, Jethro's arms wrapping around his waist. Their twins, now almost five months old, were laying on a blanket between the couch and the fireplace, on either side of "Uncle Tony", who was also laying on his back. Tony was flailing his arms and legs in the air, causing the babies to giggle and copy his movements. Once the giggles stopped, Tony flailed again and it started all over.
"I honestly have no idea."
"Please tell me you got pictures."
Tim smirked, holding up his phone. "Even better. Video."
Jethro snorted, resting his forehead against Tim's neck, kissing his shoulder lightly. It had been a struggling last five months since Katie and Sam had been born but both Jethro and Tim had worked through it. There had been a few fights that caused Jethro to camp out on the couch for a few hours before Tim would wake him and pull him back to bed. For the first three months, though they had a nursery all set for the twins, the babies slept in a bassinet in their bedroom. Once Tim was satisfied they were old enough to sleep in their cribs, cribs Jethro had built himself, they had been moved into the nursery.
For the first week Jethro had woken in the middle of the night to find Tim sitting in the nursery watching them sleep. He wouldn't admit but he himself had woken a few times a night just to check on them as well. He was pretty sure Tim knew as he always just smiled at him as Jethro pulled him back to their bed each night after stepping up to each crib and placing a hand on each baby for just a moment, not wanting to wake them.
The twins were good sleepers. At nine Jethro would heat their bottles while Tim gave them each a bath. Once the baths were done they would each take a baby, alternating between which fed which baby to give them both time with their children. Once they were done with their bottles they were changed and placed into bed, nicely asleep. And they would sleep through the night, ten to nine.
"Have you thought about having another one?"
Tim looked up at Jethro in shock before schooling his features. "They're not even six months yet and you're already asking?"
Jethro shrugged, tightening his grip around the younger man. "Not saying now, maybe in a year or two."
Tim laughed as he turned his attention back to the action on the living room floor. "What, three isn't enough?"
Jethro opened his mouth, confused for a moment before looking back at his senior field agent and his children before laughing. His laugh caught Tony's attention and the agent stopped flailing and looked up at them with a goofy smile on his face, before turning his attention back to the babies at his sides. They were silent for a moment before Tim nodded.
"Yeah I wouldn't mind another one." He looked back at Jethro and smiled. "In a few years."
Jethro nodded before kissing him. They pulled away for air at the same time as the front door opening. Abby and Ziva walked in, both carrying a bag of Chinese. It was one of those rare days the team had off. After the babies had been born Tim and Jethro had three weeks of paternity before Jethro had to return. Tim didn't return for another month, and even then it was mostly sitting at his desk. Now the team was back at full force, the twins being taken care of by the agency daycare during the day. Tim was always released early enough to collect the twins and head home, Jethro coming home a few hours later. It had been hard to fix their arrangement when it came to caring for the babies both in the mornings and in the evenings.
Once Jethro had returned to work he would be up and out of the house before Tim or the babies were. Tim would go through the morning routine of feeding and changing the babies before working from home on either his books or a search for the team here or there. At night Tim would get them ready for bed, always at the same time. He would just be putting them to bed when Jethro returned home. He would spend a few moments watching them sleep before joining Tim in bed. When Tim returned to work himself it was almost the same. Jethro would be gone by the time Tim and the babies awoke. He would get all three of them ready before taking them to the daycare and heading for the bullpen and to work himself - by eleven. At eight Tim would collect the babies and head home for their nightly routine.
The only time the routine didn't work was when Tim was needed at work earlier or the team caught a hard case and they needed to stay later. If that was the case sometimes Tim would collect the babies from the daycare and they would sleep up in the bullpen behind Jethro's desk, the team taking turns "babysitting". Or there were the two times another agent from another team had taken the babies when the whole team was needed in the field.
"Finally, what took so long?" Jethro pulled away from Tim to head back into the kitchen, following Ziva and Abby.
Tim took a moment to step further into the living room to pick up one of the twins but laughed when he watched Tony spring to his feet and scoop up both with ease. For all that knew Tony, knew the man wasn't good with children, but since Katie and Sam came into all their lives, Tony had really taken his role as uncle seriously. Without being crowding or underfoot, Tony spent a lot of time at the Gibbs-McGee home to play with his niece and nephew. He spoiled them just as much as their daddies did when it came to toys, always seeming to bring something new in every time he came over.
"So you and the boss already in talks of baby number three huh?" Tony smiled as he stepped up to Tim, easily handing over Sam, while adjusting Katie in his arms.
Tim took his son and sat him on his hip while Tony mirrored him with Katie. Smiling, Tim knew Tony was still trying to learn a few things when it came to the babies. Tony had followed him around for a whole day after an accident caused Tony to be stuck staying the night at the Gibbs-McGee household a month after the twins had been born. He had asked questions and Tim was happy to answer them.
"I guess so." Tim laughed as they turned to head into the kitchen where the rest of the team were.
"I wouldn't mind another nephew..." Tony bounced Katie on his hip. "Or a niece."
Jethro smiled as they joined them, plates on the counter to be filled with everyone's favorites. "That's good to know DiNozzo."
"Is Timmy pregnant again!?" Abby squealed.
"No!" Tim shook his head. "We are just talking about it. Down the road. Way down the road."
"Oh." Abby frowned but then beamed when Tim handed over Sam.
The baby squealed, much like Abby had, causing Tim to wince while Jethro laughed. Lightly pushing Jethro as he stepped past him, Tim opened the fridge and pulled out two bottles of milk for the twins. He popped them into the warmers and then turned back to his family. Abby and Ziva were gushing over and babbling to Sam - though Ziva would never admit to gushing or babbling and none of them would ever bring it up - and Tony was still bouncing around with Katie on his hip. Tim stepped up to Jethro to whisper in his ear.
"Are you sure you want another when it seems we may already have five, not two or three?"
Jethro snorted as he looked at his team, his "kids" with his kids. "Six is a nice round number."
That got both of them laughing and the rest of the team just looked at them. Tony had a suspicion, having heard Tim refer to Tony himself as one of the "kids" when they had originally been talking about having another one. Tony just smiled as he finally sat Katie into her high chair, followed by Ziva doing the same with Sam. Soon the five adults were sitting at the table eating and the twins were in their high chairs between Jethro and Tim with their bottles and handfuls of baby cereal.
