The First Chapter
The Bat Internship
Bruce Wayne walked into Hamilton Hill High School. He had not stepped foot into a school since the old elementary school over on the East End was blown up over thirty-five years ago. Regardless, the high school looked the same as it did when his Robins were still in attendance.
Slowly, Mr. Wayne made his way to the principal's office down the hall. Classes were still in session, and he wanted to be out of the halls before the hellions started to change classes. Before McGinnis had a chance to see him and start asking questions.
After speaking with the secretary, the principal, a strict middle aged woman, came out to see him. "Mr. Wayne, it's a pleasure to have you here at Hamilton High," said the woman as she held out her hand.
"Thank you for taking the time to see me Mrs. Benson," Bruce said as he shook the woman's hand.
"Please, call me Elaine," she replied. "Why don't we have a seat in my office?"
-Line Break-
"So, you want to take on an intern from our school. That is quiet the privilege. I'm sure several of our students could benefit from your expertise. Of course, I fully support your idea, but you will need to get permission from the school board as well as the student's parents since you want the internship to occur during the school day," said Mrs. Benson after his explanation for today's visit.
"Of course, I just wanted to clear the idea with you before approaching the school board with my proposition."
"I am curious, do you already have a student in mind?"
"Actually, I have my eye on a Ms. Maxine Gibson. Her scores far exceed those of her fellow students. I believe that Ms. Gibson may be the most capable of understanding the concepts that I wish to teach her, and I expect her to benefit tremendously from the challenges I will be presenting her."
