Kurt stood nervously on the platform, constantly glancing up at the yellow letters that told him he had two minutes left.
Two minutes until a week's worth of drawn out waiting and worrying came to an end.
Two minutes until the train would pull up at the platform and all the weary passengers would make their way slowly out of the carriages.
Two minutes until Kurt would see Blaine.
Blaine. Just thinking of his name filled Kurt's head with memories of those gorgeous eyes, warm laugh and adorably curly hair, and his stomach dissolved into butterflies for the hundredth time.
But the funny and familiar sensation soon faded, replaced with anxiety. What was going to happen between him and Blaine now?
Just over a week ago, everything had been so simple. Kurt and Blaine had been friends. Very close friends, true, but still just friends. They went to their favourite café together for coffee, walked round the park and chatted, and hugged every time they saw each other, but that had all been platonic. Yes, Kurt had wanted to be more than friends since they first met, but he'd never imagined his feelings were reciprocated.
Until Blaine had kissed him goodbye. They'd been standing on this same platform, Blaine all set to leave, and Kurt had said he was going to miss him. And then Blaine had just leaned in and kissed him. It was only a brief kiss, but sweet, gentle. It was over in a fleeting moment, but Kurt had been left blushing, heartbeat stammering and a smile glowing on his face.
"I'm gonna miss you too Kurt," Blaine had said, voice barely above a whisper, before turning and boarding the train.
And now Kurt was confused. Did this mean he and Blaine were an item now? Was he supposed to greet Blaine as a friend or as a... boyfriend? The idea sent his thoughts spinning. Was Blaine his boyfriend? Could he be that lucky?
He glanced up at the sound of an approaching train, and his heart skipped a beat. This was it. Blaine was back.
All too soon the train had stopped, and Kurt ran along to the right carriage, scanning the windows for the man he was desperate to see. He almost glanced over Blaine, because instead of his usually gelled-down style, his hair was a mass of dark curls falling down almost across his eyes. Kurt laughed to himself, and their eyes met. Blaine's face lit up with one of his stunning smiles, and he scrambled out of his seat, grabbing his luggage and jostling through the other passengers in his eagerness to get off the train.
"Kurt!" he exclaimed, running towards the chestnut-haired man and wrapping his arms around him. Kurt smiled and held Blaine closer, breathing in the smell of his cologne, his hair. When they finally parted, Kurt looked at Blaine questioningly.
"Why the curly hair?" he asked, smiling broadly. Blaine's face fell a little. Damn his ridiculously curly hair. He should have known better than to think Kurt wouldn't comment on it.
"Ran out of hair gel," he grumbled, embarrassed. "And none of the shops near me had any decent brands."
"Well, I think it's adorable," Kurt chuckled.
Blaine smiled at him.
"But you would say that wouldn't you? After all, you are my boyfriend."
