Hey guys! So I dreamed up a new plot idea today while I was doing my driving lesson and here it is! I got the idea from the totally fake relationships on Love Island (which I'm ashamed to say I have been watching…) and as my mind revolves around Harry Potter, this is the product! It's not believable, but who cares?
When Fleur Delacour smiled, she knew it would dazzle the cameraman. Her smile tended to dazzle everyone she came across – except for the man stood next to her. It was obviously paining him to hold her so close for the picture; his grip almost hurt, but she bore it bravely and her expression gave no hint of discomfort or unhappiness.
"Wonderful, wonderful…" the photographer muttered, dancing round and snapping from every direction. Fleur dared to sneak a glance at Viktor Krum. His smile was looking rather strained and forced now. Krum generally never smiled if Fleur was around, such was the intensity of dislike for each other.
"One more, I theenk," Madame Maxime purred. Karkaroff was stroking his beard, his eyes cold and dead. Fleur stifled a sigh as she smiled widely (the smile did not reach her eyes but no-one seemed to notice or comment).
"Done! Thank you, champions!" the photographer said, his eyes on his camera. The very second, he said this, Krum let go of Fleur's shoulder like it was coated in lava and Fleur pulled away from him in disgust, turning her back on him. She wanted to get as far away from her fellow champion as possible, and find her friends. Unfortunately, Krum's voice jolted her from her thoughts.
"Vy did you haff to pull such a vierd, vide smile?" He imitated her, but far from being offended, Fleur gazed at him with disdain.
"Why do you have to grip me so tightly? Afraid I am going to run away or somethink?" Fleur snapped. "You are pathetic." She turned her back on him once more, leaning down to pick up her satchel. It was definitely time to go now, before things got any uglier. Madame Maxime, however, cleared her throat.
"Fleur, wait a moment. Krum, you also."
Fleur caught the look of annoyance on Karkaroff's face at the fact that she was telling his student what to do. She detested the Durmstrang headmaster almost as much as his student.
"We 'ave arranged for two photographers to take pictures of you two around ze grounds, but as if you don't know that zey are zere. Zey are booked for two o'clock zis afternoon, so instead of attending lessons, you must go out to ze grounds and walk around."
"Yes Madame," Fleur said sullenly. Walk around with Krum for ages while two photographers snapped pictures of them? That seemed like hell. Fleur would much rather sit in lessons and hone her magic skills.
Instead, she was being forced to be part of a ridiculous publicity stunt dreamed up by Madame Maxime and Karkaroff. To take the attention away from Harry, the pair had decided that a 'showmance' was needed. What better way to get publicity than to have two of the champions pretend to be in a relationship? Never mind that the two champions hated each other.
Fleur had kicked up a fuss at first. She had tried crying, begging, suggesting that she and Cedric fake a relationship… None of this worked. Madame Maxime refused to let her become close to a Hogwarts champion, and that was that.
She could feel Krum's dead eyes on her, but she refused to look at him. Hoisting her bag strap on her shoulder and looking as haughty as she could, Fleur strutted out the room. That afternoon was going to be a nightmare. She had barely enough time to eat before the photoshoot, but it didn't matter. Fleur was going to send a letter to her real lover.
