In the year 1720, piracy was on the rage in the Caribbean Sea. At night, the sky itself was like a sea filled with stars. Beneath this was a ship that carried a boy named Jack, who was looking up from the bowsprit of a ship. The ship belonged to his father, Captain Edward Teague, one of the Pirate Lords.

Jack's mother walked up behind him.

"Jackie, it's time to go to sleep."

"How many stars do you think there are, mum?"

"I do not know. But you certainly cannot get to them by ship. Come on. Your father wants you to sleep."

"Is he not going to say goodnight?"

"He is a busy man."

"He is always busy."

Jack's mother brought him indoors. The boy lay himself on his bed and pulled the covers over his body.

"Can you tell me a story?"

"I am sorry, Jackie. I have a headache and am too tired to stay awake. Goodnight."

Jack's mother walked over to her room. Jack closed his eyes for a brief moment. He opened them when he heard his father's voice outside. He got up and stealthily peeked outside. He saw his father speaking to another pirate on the deck. Jack recognized him as Don Rafael.

"And how did you hear about this treasure, Don?" Edward said.

"James, sir."

"James who?"

"James Hook."

"James Hook? That man has only been a pirate for as long as Blackbeard's been dead!"

"He seems trustworthy. He said that he needs our help and is willing to split the wealth with us."

"Obviously, it is a dangerous job if he is asking for the help of more experienced pirates."

"He is an amateur, Captain Teague. If we can pull off this job, we can turn against Hook and keep the treasure for ourselves. The man does not even have a crew! He is out there looking for one!"

"He has, however, survived on his own. I will agree to this offer, but do not let your guard down. Hook may be more dangerous than he looks."

Jack accidentally made a loud step with his foot. His eyes widened when his father turned his head towards him.

"Jackie! Go to sleep! This is pirate business! You are too young for this!"

"Yes, father!"

Jack ran back to his bed. He had difficulty sleeping, knowing that his father was after something valuable. And he was even more curious about this James Hook character.
