Hello Fanfiction readers! This is my first ever attempt at a story on this website even though I've read a lot of them (Almost all of the ones that I've read are favorited on my profile, the good ones at least) I hope you guys enjoy the first part of this story, I have a general idea for where I want the plot to go but I don't know exactly how short or long the story is going to be. Please be sure to review if you liked or didn't like it and tell me what you think!

This is going to be an AU where Kurt and Blaine don't meet each other in highschool but about a year after they both graduate and then meet through friends. There will probably be some personally created character names just for the sake of having more names.

Kurt hated that he was still stuck in Lima Ohio. His dreams of going to New York with Rachel Berry weren't what he wanted anymore, he just hated being stuck in Lima. He loved his dad and he loved the fact that he got to stay with him and Carole and help keep an eye on him because of his recent heart attack and general health scares. Even though Carole said that she wanted him to move out and find his own place even if it is in Lima just so he can be more independent, he knew she wanted him there. Kurt's currently an aspiring psychology major getting his general education requirements done at Lima community college.

He didn't know what made him want to pursue psychology but he always felt like he was good at reading people and after his first introduction to psychology course he realized that he really loved it, especially when he wasn't able to make it into NYADA after his audition with Carmen Tibideaux. He wasn't too bitter about the fact that he did get in but he was disappointed at the fact that Rachel got to go live her dream in New York and he was still stuck in the shit-stain that is Lima, Ohio with all of the ignorant people who think he is sick just because he is gay. After his graduation at Mckinley and the glee clubs complete separation the only people he stayed in contact with were Finn, Rachel, Mercedes, and Sam.

He managed to swing a job at the local Starbucks near his house which was an awesome deal seeing as he was just a five minute walk to work from his house. It became especially convenient when he would wake up late for his opening shift at 4:30 in the morning. Between his Job and school most of his time was occupied. He really loved his coworkers and made a couple new friends in community college but he didn't really have a large group of people that he could call his friends. Sam and Mercedes were definitely his closest friends and he wouldn't trade them for the world. Mercedes with her sass and amazing singing voice along with the fact that she knew basically everything there was to know about him. She was shorter than him but still filled with more affection than any person he'd ever met. Sam and her have been dating for about a year now and after they got together Kurt got to become much better friends with Sam and realized he really liked him as a person. He was genuine, kind, generous, and funny. Along with the fact that he was quite good looking, he understood why Mercedes was so taken by him.

It was a usual friday morning where Kurt got to wake up to his 4:30 AM alarm and crawl out of bed completely dazed. Even though he knew he opened the next day he still decided to stay up reading until midnight, something he did quite regularly. He got dressed in his black skinny jeans that perfectly fit to his legs and a black button up long sleeved shirt with a white tank top under it. He put on his coat and after speeding through his moisturizing routine he plugged in his headphones and left walked out the front door, making sure to not wake anyone up even though he was pretty sure Carole was going to wake up soon anyway for her morning shift at the hospital.

He got to the store a couple minutes before his co-opener, who was also a shift supervisor, Cassie showed up to unlock the door and let them in. He waited for about ten minutes before he decided to look at his phone and saw a text from Cassie saying Sorry, woke up late, See you in 5! The text was sent a couple minutes prior so he assumed she would be there shortly. He saw the usual white BMW pull around the corner into a parking spot in front of the store and knew it was Cassie coming out.

"Hey Cassie!" he said. He didn't know what it was about her but they really got along he appreciated how great she was even though it was so early in the morning every day.

"Hey Kurt! Sorry I'm late, my damn alarm didn't go off, if my boyfriend didn't wake me up I would be much later. How long have you been waiting out here? It's freezing!"

"I haven't been waiting for too long don't worry about it."

As Cassie picked up the newspaper pile out front and unlocked the door they both got in as quick as possible to avoid freezing to death in the Ohio cold. They walked into the back, Cassie turned off the alarm, and they both got clocked in and ready to start their usual morning shift. Kurt had what everyone at the store liked to call the princess shift because he only had a quick four hours before he got to leave. Before he knew it he was off of work at 9:00 and walked back home.

"Thanks guys! Have a great day!" he said to his coworkers before turning and leaving the store.

"Bye Kurt!" They all said in unison.

He wasn't treated much like a person around Lima, but he knew he lucked out in the coworker department in terms of accepting and understanding coworkers. They were all also just genuinely nice and funny people, which was something he could totally get behind, seeing as most of their early mornings consisted of blatant sarcasm and roast sessions. When times got bad enough sometimes he couldn't wait to go back to work. He was relieved today though because today was friday and that meant that all he had to do was get through his english class at 12:30 and then he would have the rest of the weekend totally free. One of the larger perks of waking up five days a week at 4:00 in the morning, or maybe the only perk, he couldn't decide quite yet. As he was walking home from work he got a text from Sam saying

Hey man we're going to the beach tonight with Allie and my other friend Blaine if you want to come with. Let me know we would be leaving your house at around 5:00

Kurt had met Allie a couple times before and he really liked her, she was accepting of him and they both dealt out vicious amounts of monotoned sarcasm, which was something that they were both able to highly appreciate from one another. He texted back a quick replying telling him that he would like to go and to text him when he was out front of his house. Even at nineteen years old Mercedes and Sam were the main reason he still had a social life. He was excited to see them again as well as Allie, but who was this Blaine character? He thought he had heard the name Blaine when he was talking about someone that worked at the gym that they went to but he wasn't sure. Early morning wakeups did not necessarily serve him with the best memory. Either way, he was excited to go with his friends.

*A couple of hours later*

He managed to make it through his english class without dying of boredom and got home to take a shower and wait a little bit to get ready to go out. After getting into some nice black skinny jeans along with a comfortable T-shirt and a jacket that matched his jeans he felt like he was ready to go, he decided to dress casually because if they were going to the beach there was no point in dressing extravagantly, plus he had outgrown his incredible fashion faze after graduating. That didn't stop him from perfectly styling his hair though, he finished right as he got a text from Mercedes saying they were outside. He yelled goodbye to which he was pretty sure he got a mumbled "Don't be home late" and left the house to see his friends waiting outside in the car. When he opened the car and peaked his head in the saw the usual gang of misfits but the main thing that caught his eye was the new guy… Blaine… was it? He was absolutely mesmerized right when he saw him. He was wearing a nice black jacket and jeans with a black t-shirt and he looked absolutely stunning. Kurt caught himself from staring for too long and realized he was sitting down and Allie, Blaine, and himself were all cramped in the back seat of the car, knees touching with barely enough room. He didn't necessarily mind the close proximity but the fact that he couldn't keep his eyes off of this Blaine guy was making him uncomfortable. He didn't realize that Blaine was holding his hand out to introduce himself with a stunningly bright smile on his face. Kurt took his hand and managed to get out

"Hi, my names Kurt. You must be Blaine?"

"Yep! Thats me! Nice to meet you." He said it smiling so brightly that it was almost infectious and Kurt found it hard not to smile.

"So where exactly are we going?" Kurt said to the car, mainly to Mercedes seeing as she was driving. He knew they were going near the beach but he wasn't sure they were exactly going on the beach or to a restaurant near the beach or something else entirely.

"We're going to this really really good mexican food place near the beach and then we might go walk around a bit, we'll see. We're mainly just going for the drive and for the food. That alright?" Sam said from the passenger seat turning around to look at Kurt.

"Sounds good to me, I could use some good food, I haven't eaten much today."

"I told you you need to start eating man, you have me worried sometimes when you say that you've only eaten once in a day" Sam said turning again to him with genuine concern in his eyes. Kurt appreciated how much Sam cared for him, he did a lot more than most other people he had met, especially in high school. He wasn't sure if Sam cared about him because he knew he was Mercedes best friend or because he actually liked Kurt, but either way Kurt wasn't complaining.

"Sorry" Kurt said leaning his head a bit down in mock embarrassment not missing adorable smile with somewhat concern coming from the corner of his eye from Blaine sitting next to him.

Mercedes handed Kurt her phone and he queued up a bunch of songs for the ride that he assumed everyone would be able to appreciate and rearranged his sitting so that he was more pressed up on the door than on Blaines side. Blaine didn't seem like he minded but Kurt could tell that he was probably hotter than he should be. He didn't know what it was about Blaine but just being with him was making Kurt's heart beat quicker. They sang along in the car to all of the songs and Blaine turned to Kurt when he realized Kurt could actually sing relatively well with his higher pitched voice. They made small talk together about names, age, and all of the basics. Blaine was 21 just a couple years older than kurt, he was studying to hopefully major in English and was attending the same community college as Kurt while working at the gym that Kurt, Sam, and Mercedes went to. Kurt loved just hearing Blaine talk, his voice was so soothing and he didn't know what it was about it but he couldn't hear enough of him. About an hour later they were pulling into the parking lot of the restaurant and all Kurt could think about was getting to know Blaine better and seeing what it was about him that made Kurt so interested in him.
